Bungie has shown that they are completely incompetent when it comes to game design. They introduced Etheric Light to give people something to grind for in House of Wolves, to mask the complete lack of content in that steaming turd. Then they go the complete opposite direction with The Taken King by making all existing gear obsolete to force people to buy that.
