It's not bait dumbass, every time I try and talk to someone about how this is amazing and opens the door to them possibly discovering life people start getting uncomfterable.

Typically comments like this are bait, no need to call names. Religion has absolutely nothing to do with this comment. Many non-religious people shrug off any possibility that life exists elsewhere. If it makes them uncomfortable, why would you continue talking about it? I would assume you probably feel the same when two guys dressed in white suits come to your door to talk to you about Jesus. I doubt you invite them in for coffee.

Actually I'm very open minded and I invite in anyone that wants to discuss something with me and tell me their point of views. What makes you think I continue to talk about it once mentioned? So far it's followed a pattern, I tell them about the announcment and then I sit there listening to them tell me about what the bible sais. I have yet to actually get into a serious conversation where I have gotten to say anything other then "guess what NASA has announced"

If you are honestly open to there point of view and that individual doesn't give you the same courtesy, that would be frustrating. But just because that is the response that you have gotten with some religious people, does not mean that will happen every time. Wouldn't that be stereotyping?
