This post was well written and very interesting. I totally agree and think innovation is the key! I was waiting to give this a proper response, but you've covered so much, I don't think there is much left to say except that I agree with everything really! I think Destiny puts up artificial barriers to halt progress in a bid to extend the life of the game to try and make it feel bigger as the content just isn't there. TTK may be living up to hype now (for some), but in a month? I'm not so sure. Gear is a big focus in the game, but if they keep making what people have collected obsolete, people will lose interest and not see the reward anymore. The fact is, in the long run if they created more brand new content to actually expand the game, people would stay, rather than constantly reinventing the wheel. Innovation definitely beats obsolescence, but I'm not sure whether Bungie could provide it. To me both Bungie and Activision's most successful games (ie. Halo, COD) with each iteration tend to rely on repeated game mechanics in a slightly shinier shell. I think Destiny would have benefitted from a studio with more imagination and something to prove. You only have to look at something like No Man's Sky, to see the scope and imagination some of the smaller studios can be capable of (I mean who knows how good it will really be but you get the idea). Either way, Destiny seems to be cannibalising itself with each new DLC release and method of progression, and I think that certainly needs to change for the sake of those still playing!

  • Couldn't agree more. Personally, I would LOVE to see Destiny get turned over entirely to either BETHESDA or BIOWARE. Those two possess so much creative power that they could really draw out the full potential for this franchise to not only make it immensely profitable, but also WAAAAY more enjoyable by comparison. A true successor to the Phantasy Star games.

  • Yes I agree! Bioware impressed me with their story telling and characters in Dragon Age: Inquisition, it's the first game from them I've played (criminal I know) but I think they would do a great job, the depth of their story telling really would help get the lore into the game, I'm sure. Bethesda too, ah that makes me want to replay Dishonoured, I think either of those would be great and have displayed far more creativity than Bungie ever have! I think at this stage most developers seem like they would have handled it better than Bungie (and certainly dealt with the community better too). It's really a shame because the initial concept of Destiny and the aesthetic seemed SO GOOD damn it! Haha if only!! I still have a copy of one of those on my old PS2, I swear DLC will be the death of games!

  • Yeah, DLC has really contributed to the downfall. At least on console. PC Gaming is still rocking it. Their community is still so very well connected and unified that when Steam tried to throw up a paywall for Game Mods, the PC Gamer Community struck back with such disdain and rage that in a matter of a week the CEO of Valve apologized and the entire decision was overturned. Console Gaming is the complete opposite, it seems.

Yeah, it's a real shame. I want to go back to the days where everything just came on the disc! Oh really? That's pretty neat! I'm not much of a PC gamer, I dabble here and there but I tend to favour consoles. It's a pity that the community doesn't seem to hold that much weight when it comes to console games - or at least that a community can be so easily ignored. I guess perhaps, as PC gamers are so intrinsically linked to the internet, when they do have issues they know where to go and how to get noticed, but who knows. Either way, hopefully this kind of issue will remain with Destiny and not spread to other games!

  • Haha yeah, can't forget 4chan! Ahh really? That's interesting! I have not played a Fallout game before, but this new one has certainly piqued my interest! Now I just need to update to next-gen so I can play it! OTL (By the way, what is going on with the tags in this forum, your thread no longer has the feedback tag attached to it, and neither has mine...is that weird? I have not got much experience with these forums but I couldn't find this thread unless I went through that message you sent me...)
