Not really. Year 1 players have items, mats, coins and motes to progress faster than anyone just jumping into year 2.
Need to dismantle weapons to obtain an exotic? Need mats to upgrade said exotic? Year 1 players can do so right away.
While TTK caters heavily to new players, year 1 players still have a slight advantage.
And this isn't even taking into account the most obvious advantage year 1 players have, which is experience. Need to go to a specific location to beat a Taken champion? Chances are, year 1 players will know exactly where to go. All that info posted on the Internet about how to do this or that quest to obtain this or that weapon? Again, chances are the majority of this info came from year 1 players.

I do agree with the experience part but ttk has an "upgraded" loot system that kinda makes it almost impossible to not have the mats. Yea us y1 players may have a lot of gear that we can dismantle but that doesn't mean we want to. I have grown very fond of my fate bringer, vision of confluence and most of all my full set of vog armor but I will NEVER dismantle them. And the same for my g'horn. I guess my point in my previous post was that we are all at the grind stone and harder than ever.

I may have been speaking for a select few, but since TTK dropped, I still have plenty of "lost items" still at the postmaster. My vault was so full that I had to resort to that, and I just never touched them ever since. So when I have to dismantle handcannons, scout rifles or autorifles for the exotic bounties, I'm ready. I'm not denying that the grind is back in full force, but I'm just saying there IS an advantage over year 2 players. Especially any year 2 players trying to make 3 full classes in order to get all the gear available.
