Card: LI: The Hind Mother
:+ Tremble, leafeaters, prey beasts +:
:+ I have come, and death follows close behind +:
:+ I will purify the universe with your blood +:
I am hind mother. I speak and stand for birth mother and herd mother, who are gone and memory. Your coming is anticipated, and prepared for. Your forces are counted and enumerated. Your reductionist thought migration, your assumption that because a thing happens it is meant to happen, is known and trampled under hoof.
:+ Come then, slay me if you can +:
:+ Let us see which has greater worth +:
:+ Your knowledge or my might +:
The outcome is already known, and accepted. I am the hind mother, who follows birth and herd mother. Our judgment is final, and irreversible. Our response is long-prepared, and swift of hoof.
:+ I shall crush you--
This is agreed, and mourned. You see the universe as a whetstone, honing life into its strongest form, a single straight line guided by a single knowable rule. You are wrong, but we shall instruct and show you. This is done, and completed.
:+ You shall die +:
We are already flown and dead. At the will and command of birth mother and herd mother, all herd members have autoasphyxiated. I am the hind mother, last and alone.
The entropic device was primed and detonated within the solar mass of our star when your ships were found and detected in our home and system. Its primary effect and imperative is the breakdown of causative laws within the observable universe.
All will be random and chaos.
As the wave front expands, the strong will die and the weak live, or the reverse, or nothing. It is unknowable and unreadable. Stars will collapse, explode, be rejuvenated or be transformed into another form of matter altogether. Your straight line will bend, and break.
:+ On my throne I am invulnerable +:
:+ You die in vain +:
:+ Your spite will not stay my rule +:
Then rule over ashes and dust. This is our judgment, and sentence.

Theme: Places Collection: Earth Card: Fire and Ice [European Dead Zone] "It's a glacial lake. Ten thousand years ago, an unstoppable wall of ice gouged this valley out of the mountains. When it melted, it left this lake behind." "It is this sense of history that draws you? You wish to feel some connection to the past?" "Do you know what it's like to be carved out and left behind by forces beyond your understanding? I bet you do. Something we share in common." "You're projecting. Onto a puddle. A very large and very pretty puddle, I'll grant you, but it's still just water." "Yes, but. Hush. I'm thinking." "Ah. Of course." [silence] "And?" "And what?" "Any conclusions?" "I was thinking what I'd do, if I was standing in front of that wall of ice." "You'd empathize with it? Very useful." "No, Toland's wrong. You can't stop ice by becoming stronger or colder ice." "Ah. So that's what this is about." "Everyone gets it wrong. They hear 'survival of the fittest' and assume 'fittest' means 'strongest.' It's not the strongest that survives, or the most intelligent. It's the one that can adapt." [silence] "Okay? This helps the current situation how exactly?" "We adapt. Change the rules. Make their strength a weakness. They have leaders, a hierarchy, territory, goals. We will have none of these. A million leaders, and none. Pursuing a million goals, and none. If they want to encase the world in ice, then we will bathe it in fire." "So. This is the way the world ends."
