There's no justification for it. Even if I don't spend a dime myself doesn't mean it's not sick that I paid for this game and every expansion pass and still have items blocked off from me.
It doesn't matter what items your selling.
It doesn't matter how cheap they are.
You're taking advantage of people and it's wrong. It's not a debate.
-
Excuse me, this is a $140 game for some of us. Bungie, I'll do anything for the Carlton!
-
You could, you know, just not invest in microtransactions
-
-
Bungie is in he realm of right by having micro transactions. It's their game, they can do whatever they want.
-
Cough cough ac black flag cough cough
-
As long as they are 100% cosmetic (shaders/weapon skins/emotes/emblems) then I am completely ok with it. As soon as the purchases start impacting stats... I'm out.
-
You walk into a restaurant, order just a steak, then yell at the waiter for not bringing you crab cakes as well don't you?
-
Companies with games do what they want and will charge what they want for whatever they want. Don't like it? Stops playing the game l,don't buy the content,or Make your own game with your own company and do what you want then.
-
Except: battlefield hardline, ESO, garden warfare, world of Warcraft ect It doesn't hurt it at all.
-
Very similar to to WoW microtransactions. And that has a monthly fee in addition. If people want to by those little extras, they will. Not a big deal.

Edited by Nike: 10/7/2015 9:08:36 PMThere is a justification for it. Future DLC will be at NO cost. We already paid for $60 worth of content. The microtransactions won't affect gameplay, which is what is the most important. #ArgueMePls ~TheSpookyNike

They need this money for destiny 2 so they can make dlc free and have less complaints about "the taken wallet" Stop seeing the bad in things. It makes you seem like an asshole.
-
So don't buy them. Its Economics 101. Markets are formed by convergence of supply and demand. If there is no demand for a product, the seller will stop offering it. Simple as that.
-
Why are people under the assumption micro transactions = future free content? Activision/bungie will charge you the exact same for future dlcs, microtransactions merely make them more profitable. People think these companies are after a fixed amount of profit and once they reach if they're good to go??
-
Look at world of Warcraft? Pay for game Then sub On top of that micro transactions
-
You ever played CoD before?
-
I stated this and then some on the main page of the post announcing it and got a ton of replies both in favor of what I was saying and people trashing me, but the majority have agreed it's not right. Micro transactions are and should be reserved for free games as their source of revenue.
-
-
I was against it at very first, but then all future content will have a high chance to be free based on how many people buy the stuff from eververse. Another $140 on destiny dlc for year two or little $1.99 payments or maybe less for emotes, shaders, and sparrows.

Im with you. This community has one of the worst cases of sheepalitus i have ever seen.

From what I understand they are treating this as a kickstarter of sorts. The money from these microtransactions will provide for further improvement and free DLC or expansions. Basically, buying into these items will provide for a better experience down the road. However we are not guaranteed that this will happen. Unlike kickstarters where people can actually sue if the company in question does not fulfill there end of the bargain, Bungie is not actually promising anything for buying these things. If they keep up their current idea of giving out free DLC later on then I am OK with these microtransactions because they are currently purely cosmetic. However, if they ever turn into a pay2win ideaology, there will be an uproar from the community. Hopefully they also keep to the free DLC being funded by these microtransactions and there will be much more content *patched* into the game rather than having to buy in. They are a company and they do have to make money after all.
-
Does anyone have a link to where its said that all new DLC is going to be free with the introduction of micro transactions?
-
Why not? A Buisness is entitled to make money, it's optional if you don't want it don't buy it.
-
Edited by Fox2quick: 10/7/2015 8:12:12 PMYou didn't pay for these items with your expansion. These emotes are not released as part of TTK. No one is taking advantage of you. You still have access to all the content you paid for. If you want extras, then you have to pay extra. If not, then your game will continue to function as before. Not only that, but those who do buy the extras, are paying for you to get more content at no extra cost in the future. Until the MCs include actual gear that may provide a gameplay advantage, you're whining about nothing. This is capitalism. Deal with it, or move somewhere that practices communism.

I haven't seen anywhere where bungie says that they will provide free DLC. I saw on the post that they will use the money to "bolster" the game, but it doesn't mean they're going to give things away. In fact I highly doubt they will give anything away for free. A lot of the games that have micro transactions also continue to have DLC that requires payment. If there is a link that leads me to bungie stating that the micro transactions will serve to allow for future DLC to be free, then I'll consider buying Silver; or maybe just get the "free" DLC without buying silver. It presents the problem of some people not buying silver, and still getting free DLC. You know a lot of these people like to complain; you think the people that bought silver will be happy supporting those that didn't pay? So bottom line, I'm pretty sure there will be no free DLC (or very insignificant free DLC) in exchange for some of the community buying in-game currency. So all of those supporting the argument for free DLC, do you have a bungie statement, or a link to one? I would love to see it.
