There's no justification for it. Even if I don't spend a dime myself doesn't mean it's not sick that I paid for this game and every expansion pass and still have items blocked off from me.
It doesn't matter what items your selling.
It doesn't matter how cheap they are.
You're taking advantage of people and it's wrong. It's not a debate.

The fact that they haven't come right out and said that they will NEVER charge people $$$ for weapons, engrams, armor, etc. says a lot. Silence on this issue speaks volumes. I don't much care if they charge for cosmetic stuff. Lots of games do. But when they start going pay-to-win, the whole thing will come crashing down. Which is likely why they aren't speaking on this ... yet.

Really? Playstation Home (free social mmo where there is nothing to do except virtual meet ups) has plenty. DC universe has em too but also free. WoW has them as well an thats a pay by month game (a few other mmorpg for computer also got em) Also soul calibur lost swords. But yea in a game where you already pay a decent bit for the game & dlc yea

Honestly? I'm actually excited for it. I play enough Destiny that I want it to get absolutely massive and get ridiculous amounts of content all the time. If that means that they add an optional store to the game that does not affect gameplay in any way, shape, or form, then I will gladly throw all of my money at it and buy every goddamn thing that I can. Call me a fanboy or whatever the hell you want, I can admit that this game has more than its fair share of flaws, but I still get on every single day because it gives me an amazing group experience that I can share with my friends and family. If I'm given the opportunity to throw an extra couple bucks at them, whoever it may go to, then by all means I'm going to take it if it helps in any possible way to enable the devs make a bigger and better game.

Edited by SolarCasanova: 10/6/2015 10:55:37 PMCompletely agree. You didn't want TTK so you didn't buy it. If TTK was an actual dlc you would have has everything left the same. But TTK is a trick the mafia or a drug dealer would use because they know we don't really have a choice other than buy a new game

It's business, that is all the justification a business needs. Not sure how they are taking advantage when it is the customers choice to buy or not. This is not a F2P game deal where you need to spend money to be competitive. Do I like micro-transactions, nope, but these things are around because gamers buy the stuff. So, if you want to blame anybody, or throw anger in some direction, then aim it at the gamers.
-
But they belong in more pricey games right?
-
The only games where micro transaction should not be, are monthly subscriptions. I'm already paying money to play, I don't need to pay more to get further ahead faster. However, it is perfectly fine with micro transactions in one-time purchase games. Such as Destiny or ESO (after it went free to play of course). Besides, it's not like they are going to be offering 350 attack weapons that are unobtainable otherwise. This also gives them reason to give you content that you would otherwise purchase, for free. If you are against the idea of free stuff, you are automatically wrong.
-
Why do you think NHL and madden are still making a game every year. They get soooooo much money from people buying packs on packs on packs.
-
You can't put #ripped_off if you're not required to buy it. These items are purely cosmetic and there is nobody telling you you have to buy them
-
Well I guess its ok then, since they are going to add this feature in the future as an update that you didnt pay for and that it didnt come with the game previously or in a dlc. Nothing in this is preventing you from getting exotics, into raids, or even secrets in story missions, its just emotes. Adding items behind mirotransactions like this after you had paid for the game and expansions does not make you entitled to them, especially if you did not know beforehand that these things were even gonna be added. Its not being forced so, no, its not taking advantage of people.
-
You're a little bitch, it's not a debate
-
It is only for cosmetic stuff!
-
Explain to me how selling cosmetic (meaning doesn't effect the game in any way, purely for looks) emotes are going to take advantage of people. They're an optional purchase that even if you don't want, bungie is going to give you a free one just for playing. Explain how that's ripping people off and taking advantage. This might not be a debate, but your points has nothing to stand on.
-
You don't have to buy the unimportant cosmetic shaders and emotes, how are they taking advantage of you?

Edited by Arclight545: 10/6/2015 10:20:25 PMThis guy says it in a very clear and understandable way https://youtu.be/fHszeYz5Mi0. I agree completely if selling a beta and garbage DLCs for $100 want enough of a demonstration. This is Bungievision's first step in their full assault on player's wallets. First was the year one beta and it's DLCs, then came TTK. Those were all frontal assaults on our wallets. Now they are implementing a flanking attack with micro transactions. Trying cloud the facts with this alleged free DLC. They aren't free, someone else is paying for them through the micro transactions. Micro transactions selling completely useless garbage. Eventually it will morph from just MTs into a Pay 2 Win system, further dumbing down the game.

cough. Throw a fit about ESO please?

Have you played FIFA?
-
Well, I did spend $60 on The Orange Box many years back... and now there's microtransactions...

None at all man

It's the way the industry is going now. Would you prefer a monthly sub fee? It will be a huge asset for the game.
