Call of Duty has had microtransactions for years for cosmetic call signs and camos that don't affect the play of the game whatsoever... what's the problem here? You'd swear that for half the people on the forums, Destiny is the first online game they've ever played...

Edited by BeardOfNorris18: 10/6/2015 6:17:03 PMYou're throwing out hypotheticals though lol Call of duty (Activision) is far more greedy and stupid than Destiny. Yet even they haven't been ballsy enough to sell weapons or anything non-cosmetic via microtransactions. Destiny is 100% not going to either. Edit: not to mention, Bungie specifically stated that purchasing would not be needed to win crucible matches or finish a raid. The fact that they specifically pointed it out in their article where they first revealed microtransactions should tell people that they're aware how dumb of an idea that would be.

i get what your saying man, but we have to remember who is calling the shots. now i have no idea what the contract they signed stated, but i know that activision is calling the shots. they have final say on anything and everything since they do most of the advertising and publishing. assuming that is how it works, whats stoping them from forcing Micro transactions to buy exotics and forcing bungie to put in it in game and making bungie look bad for the sake of profit? now i know its all here say and shit, but this activision we're talking about. can't put anything past them when it comes to them making money to buy another boat that they're not gonna use lol

Activsion... the company most know for CoD.... has not done anything stupid on their other games. They're not going to start now. From a business perspective (I'm a business man myself), there isn't any reason for companies NOT to use microtransactions. It's a great profit booster. People buy and everyone is happy long as you aren't FORCED to buy to get better or advance in the game. They know that if people are FORCED to buy, they'll lose more business than they'll make. Basic and easy.

cool stuff my man. i have no problem with businesses making money FAIRLY, i just hope they understand how fast it could get out of control. I've seen some games that were very popular, lose all control by the time micro transactions were implemented. now those games aren't even close to bungie's level or they're dev teams talent, but I'm only thinking worst case scenario. cause you can prepare as much as you like, but it won't matter once shit truly hits the fan ya know? I'm also a small business owner in sports equipment, and i understand the need to boost revenue in order pay employees and such. i just don't want to see a franchise that i actually feel like i enjoy now since the launch of TTK go south again because of a system that can lead to pay walls and rip offs. thats all

If you and 90% of the community know it would be a bad idea to sell more than cosmetic stuff, then you can bet Bungie and the head management there knows it's a bad idea. I haven't seen a big name game company use microtransactions poorly. Only small ones without much to lose would have the balls to try lol
