Honestly? -blam!- Bungie.

Bungie partnering with Activision was absolutely their downfall; infested and corrupted by big business corporate leeches. I've stood by Bungie for over 12 years since I was a young kid playing Halo CE; It's been a long time since then. In March my Bungie.net account will reach its milestone of 10 years as a member of the Bungie.net community which I've cherished and enjoyed over the years. I've seen a lot in my time here, we all have. Destiny was a subpar game (for a multitude of reasons) but I supported them through it by playing and relatively enjoying my time throughout the past year. It was pretty good fun, though certainly not flawless. But seriously talk about a -blam!-ing bait-and-switch. Bungie expects me to pay them a total of $130 for a game that's been out for a year. If you walked into GameStop right now and purchased TKK for $60 you can get every single expansion and the base game for that price. If you bought Destiny when it launched and have all the expansions you paid about $90-$100 ( $$ == loyal customer), Bungie gracefully reduces the price for TKK for only $40!! -blam!- that. I've already dropped a Franklin. I shouldn't have to pay $40 more to unlock more content that should have already been on the game; which was severely lacking at launch in the first place. I really don't appreciate being completely shit on for being stupid enough to purchase the game when it was released. Bungie clearly does not care about customer loyalty. It's not even the fact I'm paying for additional content: paid DLC is an industry standard; but don't force me to purchase it by rendering a large portion of the game useless - you cannot even play multiplayer without TKK. Now, if Bungie were robbing me blind while giving me some solid content and story I wouldn't bat an eye -- but don't give me shit and then start telling me it's worth its weight in gold. It's sickening the dollar-orientated direction this company has headed since signing with Activision. It was blatantly obvious the path Bungie chose when they turned their backs on the community that made them what they are today. I'm honestly happy Marty was booted, Staten left, and all the other talent from the Halo years are gone so they don't have to participate in the current shame that is Bungie. Maybe one day they will absolve their contracts with Activision, Harold Ryan will be fired, and magically some internal Bungie employees will revitalize what made Bungie great and truly unique: their acute attention and care towards their community, and their ability to make kick ass stories that actually matter. Until then, I see no point supporting their subpar work while they've turned their backs to me and many others in favor of how much revenue they can bring in.

All what is left of Bungie is the name itself and the legacy of it's former glorious community, nothing more.

I've yet to see any currently *active* community members from back then address these issues. I'm open to discourse, but nobody seems to want to have this conversation WHY? I'm not going to assume their silence makes me right or correct in my criticisms; however, noticing the *active* community's seeming complacency with what has happened here is extremely disappointing.

    • Do you think an actual Bungie employee will respond to this thread?

Don't think it's fair to yell at Bungie as if it were a single entity. Not a lot of employees have been happy with the current direction. Some have left. Others plan on leaving if they don't get more control on the next Destiny. All I'm saying is to focus your blame on those that have made the bad decisions (Harold Ryan, Jason Jones, etc), and not every employee. Example: DeeJ is in charge of talking to the b.net community, not in making any decisions regarding the future of Bungie or Destiny.

I'm so tired of seeing crybabies whine about paying 130-140 for the game when playing from day one and someone else can come in now and pay less. This happens all of the time in the form of collectors editions, game of the year editions, etc. they rerelease games with all expansions for a fraction of the price. I have been playing since alpha and paid a good amount of money. It comes down to this. Did you enjoy your time? Did you get your money's worth? I, for one, have. I have put a lot of time into this game. A lot more time than I have put into a lot of other games combined. When I break it down, as I'm sure it is the case for most the whiners on here, you're paying much less than a dollar an hour. Try doing that math on other games you've played or movies you watched. I'd say we have come out pretty good. I know this will not matter to most of you children since logic alludes you, so keep on crying

I'm not the first person to bitch about the direction Bungie has taken. We have had discussions with Bungie employees for years about the future of this site to no avail following Bungie.next's release date. Our complaints and criticisms do not compete to the contractual mandates and changed corporate culture at Bungie. Bungie made the choice years ago to seek profit while erasing years of trust and commitment by their community.

I'm honestly over it at this point. I didn't buy TTK and won't until it's on sale. Bungie/Activision telling me I need to pay an additional $40 for the game I should've had 1 year and $90 ago is a joke. Frankly, they deserve all of the ill-will if for nothing more than being naive enough to get into bed with Activishit and think everything was going to be fine.

          • I do not like the directions and decisions Bungie management made as well. Bungie has been corrupted by greed. Some inside still need extraction . Destiny....... Paying for playing the same game, same content, same structure over and over again. While we are being pushed in paying this to continue playing a game that we already bought. Clearly Activision's bad minds are behind this scheme. For the first time in many years of supporting Bungie I've not bought one of their games, The Taken King. We've watched while the stars burned out, and creation played in reverse.

            • Also a mythic member. It is sad to see how the company has changed and what destiny was when it released. I did not have high for destiny when it came out. I played the beta and thought ok this is alright nothing special. After playing the whole game i was really confused and butthurt. The game was wayyyyy to short and there was zero story. I had no idea what was going on. Until the addition of the mission kiosk in the vanguards i had no idea there were 5 different stories being told. I thought the best part of destiny was the HoW because it actually had some story in it. Once TTK was released there was more story in the first cutscene than the whole rest of the game. I had no hope for TTK. After playing the new dlc i was extremely happy. New mission after new mission it was great. So many new things added i to the game. There is nothing wrong will the update and content. If this game hadnt been shredded to peices before release this could of had potential for being one of the greatest games ever made. Had a strong community to back it up; instead the community was thrown to the side and spit on. But over all TTK is the best thing to happen to destiny. yorkie

              • If nothing else, it was good to see all your names (all who have posted) around here again. TTK for me is just filler until November and all the other actual games come out. Destiny could have been, but obviously isn't. No use in rehashing all that it should have /would have / could have been. No one who can do anything about it is listening. Long live the blue bars!

                • It's funny...Bungie and Activision don't pay attention to our opinions or our thoughts...which comes back to hit us in the face? No, the community will die one day and they'll wish they had payed attention to us for once...the only people who will be left will be the people who love this game for an unknown reason...

                • naa im good. Halo 5. tomb raider. Assassins creed syndicate come out next month and not to mention the witcher 3 that im still playing. The story plot remained weak. Taking away all my gear and weapons i aquired was lame. The constant nerfs in the game in the game due to the crucible cry babies was and still is annoying. The fact that doing the legendary strike doesnt gain vangaurd points made it pointless to do after marks was maxed out. (unless you were going for streaks to gain gear but RNG is a bitch still lol) BUT above all the content over all felt re purposed as if you ran out of ideas or a budget to add more material so you used old areas and added a hybrid of the old characters to them. For a Expansion that cost as much as a new game but has a resell value of nothing as its a disk with a one time code; i was expecting as much material as the vanillia and all of the expansions put together. Not to mention the lvl system is so confusing now and seems kinda pointless when even a lvl 8 captain does as much damage to you as a lvl 31 ultra..Bunjie has lost me as well..just wait until you try to trade in your taken king disks... your gonna flip as i did

                • Its seems our concerns and feedback just bounce back when we try to talk with Bungie. It's depressing watching the community slowly atrophy.

I agree. We've made a mistake thinking a company cares for its community as a whole. Singling out the older community not linking and contentiously pushing away from the community we had I'm not sure what to say. I guess it's new times and you gotta remember its just a business and their purpose is to make money. Plenty including myself have said the same thing if not more already, so I doubt this will do anything,
