Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't MMOs usually a large explorable world, where you have double to triple the number of people around? The Destiny world is pretty small to be an MMO. It lacks pretty much every aspect of a true MMO. Also MMOs actually allow you to team up in game for things, not go shopping on the internet to find a team. Destiny is not an MMO. Maybe a wannabe MMO, but the devs have no idea where they want to take the game. It shows by their actions to date.
