Here's the crazy thing with going free to play/micro transactions. People that are ok with paying for the little cosmetic stuff that has zero impact on the game, like me, can buy it. People that only want what's free and don't care about paying extra, you, don't need to.
And the best part, you'll still get the DLC without paying now. Everyone complains about buying bungie having multiple paid DLC's a year. So they give us this option to fund their game. A totally 100% optional transaction system. You get the content, and you don't HAVE to pay anymore, outside of the one Expansion pack a year.
Stop complaining so much. This is life, you don't get everything you want for free. If you don't like it, too bad. Nothing... absolutely nothing in life is 100% free

Except that NOWHERE has Bungie stated that this microtransaction system will result in FREE DLC. They state that it will help fund their "live" events. Kokatu hinted about free DLC in their article, but Bungie/Activision has NEVER stated anything about free DLC.
-
Go back and reread their post. Their "live" team is a reference to their team of people actively working on destiny....not a team of people trying to make totally awesome cosplay contests. Bungie clearly states that their goal is to have micro transactions be the primary source of income in order to fuel new content to the game. Again, if you aren't comfortable/can't afford to buy the content... Don't. It's really that simple.

I read it quite extensively. I read that "INITALLY, Tess will be selling just emotes". I also read the paragraph stating that said the microtransaction portal will be used to help fund the live team working on continuing development of upcoming Destiny events TO BE ANNOUNCED later this year. There is no concrete "promise" there AND that statement can be interrepreted to mean that the microtransactions will fund future public EVENTS and quests. Therefore, other than the quick Kokatu article, nothing has been mentioned about microtransaction funded "free" DLC and NO ONE from Bungie has ever put the words "free" and "DLC" in the same sentence.
-
Obviously you have a hard time reading "going forward, our live team is also looking to grow beyond vital updates and improvements to focus on world events, experiences, and feature requests." Does it specifically say DLC? No. Is strongly implied? Yes. AGAIN, if you can't afford the $1-$5 micro transactions, then don't buy them. But, don't complain about not getting access to the emotes and whatever else they decide to sell. Your business model of "give everything away for free... Forever" would struggle to be self sustaining huh?
-
I get it. You believe that a tacid implication equals a promise of free DLC. Okay, it is good to believe in something. BTW, Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy are not real, though it is IMPLIED that they are...... Sorry.
-
Again... Beating a dead horse here. The goal of the micro transactions is to be able to provide us, the consumer, with content. However, if the micro transactions aren't successful, then we won't receive free content due to needing to recoup loses. And a condescending snide comeback. What a clever, witty and original thing for you to do. Is this where I do the standard Internet tough guy thing and insist that I am superior to you in every way because of reasons!!!? Hahaha. Adorable, love forum logic

Considering your initial post claimed free DLC, and your last post moved to funding new content, I guess my job is done. Bungie clearly stated that the proceeds were going to fund future EVENTS. I stated that. What was NOT ever stated by Bungie was free DLC, which was MY bone of contention. FYI, nowhere did I mention microtransaction use. YOU started that. Do not be disingenuous.
-
They clearly state the micro transactions are for game content. It's right there on the homepage. Read it again. Give it time to sink in, and read it again. This isn't a complicated business model.

Exactly, either those who don't buy expansions whine about being "left behind" in a paywall or they complain about MTs ripping them off while paying for all to get fresh content and updates. Look, this is where we are. The age of the always online game, it requires constant work from a developer and eventually your $60 is spent well before a month or two have even passed. We either do expansion or season passes (which let's not forget, Activision LOVES, see the ton of MTs and a $50 season pass for a side story-line and a handful of MP maps) or add in cosmetic MTs and use them to fund Bungie until Destiny 2 drops.
