For me its like this:
If I can not find a male character model that I identify with (as in that fits how I want to present myself) I just go female.
I despised the male awoken hunter models so I went with a female instead. In Dragons Dogma online I made a male char because it actually allowed for decent customization.
I have 3 female characters in Destiny, but in my defense:
The warlock was made by and for my wife. She made a female human, I have nothing to do with that.
The Exo was made last, and I find neither the male nor the female exo especially pleasing, but since I already had two females I decided to make it a trio.
