I know its a lot of fun for some, but PvP is always maddening and frustrating for me and I avoid it whenever I can. That's why I always let out a few choice words whenever I am in the middle of a quest step to get something super awesome that I'd like to have suddenly leads into forcing me to do stuff in PvP. I might be the only one that has issues with this, but my enjoyment just drops once I see that "oh, you gotta do PvP to finish that thingy you gotten halfway on".
@Bungie - do you really need to bar everything awesome behind a PvP wall? I am doing the daily PvP stuff, do you REALLY need to force me to play something I don't like even more? FYI I can tell you that I'm not getting more fond of it the more I am playing it. There is super awesome gear locked to PvP exclusively so do you really need to have everything else awesome have to go through it as well? Chaperone, the exotic swords, the rank 5 gunsmith handcannon. I suppose I could chose not to do them naturally, but when just about every cool weapon is locked behind PvP that is really reducing my options of cool flashy stuff.
I beg you Bungie, for the future - stop locking so much behind PvP all the time - Have PvP exclusive gear like Iron Banner and such, but stop making most of the items have to go through PvP. Makes me a sad lion =C
All that negative stuff said, I have to say that I do thouroughly enjoy the changes to the Taken King and how some of the unique item quest like "Black Spindle" and "Sleeper Simulant" works. These kinda things I love, great work all around!
Edit: Wooh! Big subject. Bigger then I thought. Having hard time reading everything coming inn. One player came with the suggestion of having two ways of unlocking items. One PvE and the other PvP. Then players could pick which to go for. I like that idea. I get that PvP'ers aren't happy having to do PvE, same as I'm not happy doing PvP. I know what I like, but as some have pointed out, I can't expect Bungie to cater only to me. Thanks for a lot of feedback, I'm going to have to mull this over for a bit.

People that don't like PvP and have to play it are the ones that make it a frustrating experience for others that like it. The irony. No hate.
-
But this game was not billed as a PVP game. I was billed as a First Person Shooter MMO, or a story driven shooter. Most people didn't buy this because they were looking forward to the pvp. You can get that from Halo, done better. So most people probably weren't counting on having to participate in PVP to deal with story elements of the game.
-
I think Destiny's PVP is awful, absolutely awful. With that said, you're not being forced to do anything. You want a weapon, so you're forcing yourself to play PVP to get it. Like it or not, this is a sectional game -- should PVP players be forced to play PVE for loot?

Edited by Flare34: 10/11/2015 8:27:25 PMI've never understood the people who say pvp plays need love too. It's a pve game, that's specifically what you signed up for when you bought destiny. It's not well designed to do pvp at all. It's a little like WoW having pve gear behind pvp only activities. Yeah, the game has pvp, but it's leaving out 99% of the game functionality and design to shoehorn in the game type.

Ive gone from 1.4 kd to 1 since taken king. I didnt use last word or thorn previously either. Its used to love pvp now i hate it cant have a good game tried lots of weapons cant get on with any of them. Laggy games too i have really fast internet i dont understand why nearly every game im behind in time it was never like this before.
-
They're not forcing you to do anything. You WANT the exotic sword, it is NOT needed to progress or advance in the game. When they make an item or weapon that you absolutely need to progress in the game and they put it behind PvP, then you can say you are forced to do PvP. You have a choice right now, which is the complete opposite of being forced.
-
I don't like PvE; do you think I like it hearing from people I suck because of low light level? I just like Trials and Iron banner more because there is a greater challenge in defeating other guardians and the glory is greater. Thanks to Trials and Iron banner I can keep up with the light level and that's a bad thing? Crucible is part of the game, like it or not.
-
Dude really 25 kills with a sword is nothing 50 kills for the chap is nothing most of theses pvp walls are super easy
-
Agreed... PvPts should have quest lines for PvP & PvE quest should be PvE. But they gotta boost their server #s some how.
-
I have played a lot of PvP over the last 12-13 months. I play it when my friends play it. I play Iron Banner for the gear etc. I do not enjoy having to go and get 25 kills with the sword. Waiting to get heavy ammo and then finding and killing others or just using the stump like I have seen many others do. I see nothing enjoyable in that so I wont be getting the sword. I also wont be getting the chaperone because after a year of TLW dominating the crucible, why would I want to go and use it again? Basically dreading next week because I know I'll want what Saladin and Vance have to offer, so I'll have to go and get my scrub ass handed to me over and over. It's ok thought because you don't have to do anything really specific, like the quests. You can use what you like to use and enjoy it as best you can. It's kind of a salty rant but I have come to terms with not getting the sword/chaperone. Just wish, like OP, that those quest lines were different.

Low KD scrub Get muted
-
I hate it when I am forced to play pve, 95% of quests in the game require me to play pve wtf!! Fix dis bungie pls!!!
-
You don't have to do that quest. Just because you don't enjoy doing an activity means everything has to change. Farming the materials for my exotic swords wasn't fun (to say the least) so I'm sure you can stick thru some PvP
-
Edited by Vardnax: 10/11/2015 8:06:19 PMI hate pvp too and I agree for the most part. But if I really want something, I do play pvp. Next time I will enter pvp is when Iron Banner starts... I want the Hunter cloak.

Edited by OG_Ronzilla: 10/11/2015 7:36:44 PMIf the rewards seem worth it to do something you don't like, then do it. I don't like activities like grinding materials for swords, hunting fragments for Touch of Malice, or waiting 2 hours on Earth for a Warsat to drop, but the rewards seemed worth it, and most of the time they are worth it. Step out of your comfort zone to achieve what you want, then use it however you enjoy playing.
-
Nah it's fine, people are just assholes.
-
There are hard-to-get items in both PvP and PvE. If you dont want to play PvE, you dont get the PvE weapons. If you dont want to play PvP, you dont get PvP weapons. You are not forced to do anything. You dont see PvP players complaining about the weapons behind a PvE wall.
-
If you want everything in the game, then you have to do everything in the game. If you want all the best stuff in the game, then you have to do everything in the game well.
-
You thought the way to get Black Spindle was fine, yet you think the exotic sword quest is difficult? Get outta here!
-
I avoid Pvp also. The last time I liked it was playing Doom.
-
Only way to get people to play it
-
I don't really like pve and that's not ok either
-
I feel for ya.I'm doing the Crucible Quest so I can get Hothead.I'm on the part where you have to win matches with 1,200 points, but my teammates always quit at the slightest sign of defeat.
-
Agreed I avoid it too it makes me angry and I need to take a brake from the game.
-
After finding out most gear (including year one and now) required me to play PvP.. I was dirty because I hated online multiplayers and was not looking forward to the crucible at all. But the more I played the better I got and now I can hold my own. Hell, I even have a positive K/D. I did the first part of the Chaperone bounty in 3 games.. I just think do whatever task is put in front of you and move on. Worked me and many of my PvP hating mates.

You all straight suck and have no pride. The way you react to a challenge is -blam!-ing pathetic.
