Whilst I've never really had a problem with the jumping puzzle areas, I can see why people do. In first person it's just not intuitive. Also when you fail and are suddenly the last person and everyone is waiting for you the pressure must be immense. If you have someone on your team that's is struggling, jump off and go back to help them.

    Um... How? By completing it flawlessly for a second time and crushing their spirit? It's not like you can carry them on your shoulders.

    No but you can run alongside them pointing out the jumps and offering encouragement. Not just stand there at the end like a prick huffing and puffing that they are slowing you down.

    You can point out the same ledge they keep missing like an asshole or, and this is my favorite, just let them handle the jumps? They know how hey are supposed to do it. The problem is they have troubles jumping themselves. Unless you're going to share play and do it for them it's better to just stay where you are and wait.[spoiler]I guess what I'm trying to say is, don't treat them like they are stupid. Nothing is more frustrating than knowing what you're supposed to do, but failing at it, and then having someone come and tell you how to do it. They know the jumps, they just can't make them. "Jump on this ledge" Oh really? That ledge right there? The one right infront of me? The one I've missed 5 times already? Nah I thought I'd turn around and jump back the way I came. [/spoiler]

    You misunderstood. You can go back and point out the ledge they keep missing. This makes you an asshole. At no point did I call the person jumping an asshole. Infact, to further my point, the fight with the sisters they know the jumps. It's literally just one platform infront of another. You tell the person they have a full minute, that there's no enrage and getting to the sister is more important than rushing. So you wouldn't dps that round? Big deal. Like I said there's no pressure and yet those people STILL fail their jumps. Now are you going to sit there and tell them the jumps? The ones they know they need to make and are missing? Because that's what makes you an asshole.

  • You clearly said "Missing jumps like an asshole" I would not count the jumping in sisters or oryx as a jumping puzzle. I think this term is the preserve of the pendulums, ships and piston area. These are the areas people need support.

The act of you pointing it out would be exactly like what an asshole would do. Not sure how you still don't understand that the fact you treat them like they are stupid by pointing out the ledges that they keep missing their jumps on makes you appear like an asshole. And for all your examples... Tombships are the only "puzzle" in that case. Every other jump is quite literally a path you follow. You can apply the same thing to the pendulums with you trying to point out the ledge and it would further my point. They know where to jump on a majority of these *I'll concede to tombships as that's a puzzle* and doing something like pointing out a ledge in all these when the issue is the person just can't make the jumps, the jumps they KNOW, is just going to frustrate them even more.

  • I think we are both at cross purposes here. I'm not saying you should repeatedly tell someone they are doing it wrong. What I'm saying is rather than watching someone go wrong and telling them what to do or shooting. Go back to the start with them. It's easier to make a jump when you have someone to follow. And you saying the piston room is a path, it's only a path if you know the route.

  • Piston room is just a path. You go straight and there you hit what appears to be a dead end, except there's platforms going across the gap, with nowhere else to go one will assume this is the way. It's a path. You'll follow that and your path will end up going left. You follow that to the next dead end, you turn around and yet again there's only one direction to go *unless someone is just going to retrace their steps* And idk, I still think just flaunting your jumping skills in their face is more harm than good. Like I said, they know the jump they just can't make it. It's not a simple case of "monkey see, monkey do" there's no eureka moment of "Oh! I'm suppose to press X to get over that gap!" *which is the kind of thing I had been referring to when I was saying that pointing out the ledge would be an asshole thing, because it's obvious and they are trying it already*
