I had a warlock at lvl 29 or so when the taken king came out and never got the third sub class. I thought that maybe it would show up when I reached lvl 40 but still nothing has happened. I would rather not have to make another warlock and lose all the reputation and materials that have games on this character, is there anything that bungee can do to help me out with this

You have to complete the first ttk mission on phobos then return to the tower and talk to the warlock vanguard person

There is a specific quest you can pick up to get your 3rd subclass. It is available from your Vanguard at the tower, after completing the first mission of The Taken King DLC.
