It can't block hammers. I was blocking with a void sword and the hammer ripped right through me.

Edited by Cypher02xd: 10/12/2015 1:35:30 PMoh yes it can. Only thing I can think of is that they had sunspots on so blocking didn't matter, but if they have forgemaster and they hit you directly in the front you will survive.
