I saw this posted on reddit 3 weeks ago, I tried it then and it's so inconsistent that it can't be classed as a "foul proof" method.

Is your NAT type 1,2, or 3? If it's 3, then your gonna have a bad time finding anyone, and there really isn't a fix unless you play with your modem to get NAT 1 or 2. The other problem could be your upload speed. With very slow upload speed, like less than 1.5 mbps, Destiny has a hard time connecting you even if you go slowly through the transition. If this is the case you may want to try a wired Ethernet connection if you are not already.
