So I've seen a few lore pages for our personal guardians, so I thought I'd share mine. Keep in mind this isn't to be taken as absolute lore at all; it's just how I play the game. It's "plausible canon," meaning it could have happened alongside the current storyline. That being said, enjoy!
Vidar Tysus was one of the original members of the Phaeton jumpship development team during Earth's Golden Age. Using technologies gathered from the Traveler, the goal of Tysus's team was to create a jumpship capable of stable, sustained, inter-atmospheric flight. The prototype's sub-space handling prowess was evident on its maiden flight, with Tysus at the controls. However, the test rig suffered an in-flight breakup due to a structural integrity issue within the NLS core. Of the two-man crew, only Tysus's copilot survived. Tysus's body was lost over the Cosmodrome during the breakup.
Centuries later, Tysus was rematerialized by a Ghost as a Guardian in service to the Traveler. Rebuilt as a being of war, Tysus devoted himself to the Titan order, and shortly after became involved in a rescue operation following the disappearance of Titan Aren Vers. Tysus replaced Vers' position in his first fireteam, consisting of Freja, a Warlock, and Robin-8, an Exo. The mission was unsuccessful, but led to the discovery of Hive scouts in the area of Saturn. This became a prelude to Tysus's involvement in the Taken War.
Of significant note, however, was Tysus's contribution to Guardian Aviation. As a former pilot, Tysus found picking up the controls of a jumpship relatively easy. Using information gathered by his Ghost on simulated combat maneuvers, Tysus was able to convince a secret board consisting of Commander Zavala, Petra Venj, and Amanda Holliday that a Guardian presence in air/space operations alongside the Awoken could be useful. Under the panel's jurisdiction, Tysus and his fireteam formed the 1st Tower Air Wing- a task force of modified jumpships created to further evaluate the effectiveness of Tower airframes in combat alongside Reef fighters. Thus far, TAW 1, tac name "Nevermore," has proven effective, with a zero loss rate thus far. Additionally, Tysus's reputation amongst Fallen pilots has grown, earning him the nickname "White Raven" amongst the Fallen due to his ship's distinctive white colors, in contrast to the low-vis black scheme used by his squadron.
