Racism in the Community Hangout
My fellow B.net community members,
I am shocked and appalled at the blatant racism that seems to have flooded a popular 'Community Hangout' on this site. The upper echelons of leadership in The Wayward have gone out of their way to sling hurtful racial slurs at the members of our community with a darker skin complexion.
I could quote the founder himself saying that his use of n***** is acceptable both socially and privately but I don't need to. Instead, I will post picture evidence from people who also believe this to be an alarming issue. Shortly after this announcement, he proceeded to ban everyone who either was of that particular skin persuasion or anyone who called out said Founder.
I can't understand how such a blatantly, and openly, racist person can hold a position of leadership in a group that is meant to represent the community.
Community Managers, Ninjas, please make an effort in looking into this situation. Aside from the CoC for the site being broken, I myself and many of my friends are devastated by this news and bigotry. As people who were banned or discriminated against, we will not accept inaction.

Edit: so it would seem that the defender's stance is such that it's okay to be racist as long as you're not insulting a video game or its players. His stance is such that it's okay to use hurtful language and discriminate against a people with skin color different from his as long as he feels good about his video games. Good to know. It's time for justice!

I don't like being called a racist, because I'm not. If users messaged me personally saying that they found the racial slurs in the group chat offensive, then I'd revise the Code of Conduct and prohibit them. But until now, that has not been an issue. Meanwhile, I received dozens of complaints regarding the treatment of Destiny fans in the group chat and still occasionally receive one or two from newly accepted members. Naturally I will focus on that form of rudeness more than other, almost unused kinds. You don't focus on one rowdy guy yelling at a police station while the other half of the town is on fire and breaking down in anarchy. I never banned Winston for his racial heritage or ethnicity. I banned people who took a serious matter and turned it into a pathetic joke to bash a video game. Racism is a serious issue in the United States, and I'm not going to let a bunch of children make it into a joke to try and get somebody they don't like banned because of their taste in video games. That's beyond petty. The Wayward supports Bungie, Destiny, and any and all future decisions Bungie makes for their games and Bungie.net. Just because that upsets you does NOT give you the right to try and turn it into a race issue.[/quote]
