I have seen apparent similarities between Destiny and the Bible in general. For example:
The collapse is like the Fall of Man. The Guardians are like Christians fighting sin. The Speaker is like the Bible itself, since he is sort of like the Traveler's word, and the Bible is God's word. Also, with TTK's recent release, the Darkness closes in, but the Light fights back and wins, which is like Jesus' return. The different factions are like different theological views.
If you do not believe in Jesus, God, or that the Bible is true, please be respectful and do not post hateful comments and just make a fool of yourself. Believe what you want.
I also realize that this doesn't completely align with Destiny's lore, and you need to understand that I am making this understandable for the average Destiny player.
Have a nice day and God bless you.

Lots of media reference the Bible. Zombie movies origin is based on resurrection etc. Man of Steel. Superman was same age as Jesus. Gave him self to Zod to save the people. StarWars. Vader was born in the womb without the need for a father aka like Jesus. It's not worth getting offended by it.

Why is this not in off topic? I come to general to read up on Destiny. Not come across someone purposely being productive in an attempt at attention grabbing. Honestly it is just sad and does a disservice to your cause. It is the gamming section of a gamming forum. Let's stay focused on why we are all actually coming here, or the very least if you must post things like this put it in off topic where this belongs.

The biggest similarity is that they're both works of fiction fabricated out of nothing by human beings to extract money out of other human beings. The only difference is that one is designed to provide a source of entertainment, the other subversively spreads fear and self loathing, causes war and gives people an excuse to worship a magic man in the sky who doesn't exist.

Please stfu scrub
-
Do you know what the biggest similarity between Destiny and the Bible is? They are both fiction.
-
Just to let everyone know that the bible is the highest selling fiction book in the world.
-
If destiny is the bible then satans chilling in the tower. -blam!-ing master Rahul
-
You can compare that story to a bunch of movies too. All written by man.
-
...and the lack of story in Destiny mirrors the lack of facts, sanity, coherence or credibility in the Bible. Thought I'd add that.
-
Just like starwars was like something ,something, something
-
It's. A. Video. Game.
-
Don't compare a good game to a crappy fiction novel.

The one similarity they have is that they are both stories made up by humans.
-
Darkness doesn't really close in before Jesus returning. After being crucified I'm pretty sure he wrestled the keys to the gates of hell from Satan or something along those lines. So the evil never really became stronger just before his resurrection like it does in Destiny.
-
There are a lot of movies ,books, stories and games that use the bible as a reference. Nothing new here.
-
-
Why would be make a presumptuous claim that you're "making this understandable for the average Destiny player". Typical Christian.
-
Ok, so can a Christian person explain this to me without being a total asshole about it? If the bible is the word of God, the law, whatever you want to call it, then why do people just forget about all the horrible things that the bible tells you to do? Your girl slips and her hand hits some guy's genitals? Just cut her hand off, that'll teach her to trip again. Do you just pick and choose what parts of the bible you read?
-
Religious parallels, sure. The Speaker even talks of the 'The Traveler' as a 'broken God'. But it only goes so far. Themes of light and hope against darkness and despair are pretty much embedded in the roots of every story in every culture. It doesn't make Destiny 'Christian' per se. In fact the notion that The Traveler came from beyond our Solar system to replace any previous concepts of Religion on Earth is anything but.
-
I don't have anything nice to say so...

Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooook

Destiny and the Quran

I've noticed this as well. I've heard it's also not the first time Bungie has drawn such similarities between their games and Christianity. Also, if you follow certain Bungie employees on twitter you can sometimes see a religious side to them.

Destiny is like a ham sandwich The light is the mustard fending off the overpowering taste of ham. The bread like the traveler securing us between its aura. The speaker is the cheese..because cheese.
