We don't know the whole of the story yet. The Traveller may not be as inherently "good" as we are led to believe. Humanities savior looks closer to being Rasputin and the AI willingly had no problem letting a large number of humanity die for to save a few. We also know that the Traveller had some connection to the Fallen and then were abandoned by the Machine God and replaced by Servitors. Are there similarities? Sure, it's hard to have anything created in the Judeo-Christian Western world not have concepts that can be compared but I'm not sure this is a complete perfect allusion to Christianity. I'm really fond of folklore and religious studies, especially how they shape the "literature" of cultures they inhabit, so it's an interesting discussion.
