Do you believe that Joan of arc existed? How about prince Edward? If so then how do you think their history was written?

  • Those people are well documented from a multitude of different sources from multiple different areas of the world. There isn't a single historian living in Jesus's time that mentioned anything about him. You'd think if there was a guy running around the Mesopotamian walking on water and healing the blind he'd have garnished the attention of actual historians elsewhere. But no, all we have is gospel writers that couldn't even agree about various events in his life or the things he said. Ever played the telephone game in school? Where the teacher whispers a short story to one student and that student whispers it to the next and so on and when it finally gets to the last student the story is drastically different than the original? Well take that game, stretch it out over 2000 years, a hundred different languages, and pass it through the hands of a thousand people who intentionally edit bits out and add stuff in, then give it to a council that gets to decide which parts stay in and which parts aren't important, and then finally, tell people that the words in the story are law and to break the law is to be condemned but allow them to interpret the words any way they want. That's the Bible.

  • How do you know that there was many records of them? I don't see those records in history books. Do you? Also. The writers of Matthew mark Luke and John are all the same. Idk what you are talking about that they aren't.

  • No, they're not the same. There's a large number of blatant contradictions between their stories. A quick Google search of "gospel contradictions" should help you out a bit.

Go show yourself. Like I said you can quickly and easily search for that information. I'm not gonna spoon feed you. If you're gonna prattle on about the verifiable truth of the Bible and how it doesn't contradict itself you'd best be damn sure that it doesn't. (Which it does, not just in the gospels but all over the place.) I swear most of you religious types just sit and listen to a preacher tell you what your religion is about and what its holy text says/means but you don't actually read the shit thoroughly yourself. Actually you know what? Never mind. I don't even know why I try to talk to you people. It's hard to change the minds of people who have been indoctrinated since birth to believe this shit. I'm sure if nobody ever told you santa wasn't real you'd still believe that too.

  • This is why I don't argue my Christianity. It's a belief. There really are tons of contradictions and tons of things that are just hard to believe. But damn, kudos to you for being a grade A arguer and getting your point across, you said some good points, and even as a believer, I do have some doubts and what not. I'm not a blind follower, I love to question and poke around at it. Good argument man (:

  • Eh.. I probably came off as a bit of an asshole there at the end. I actually try my best to avoid having these conversations. Can't help it sometimes.
