Victory is the only way they ever get to go back home..."---> Cayde 6 Thats actually how the roman spartans practiced war and deterred desertion

Yea Sparta was a province in Greece; When the roman empire over threw the Grecian governmental systems the spartans became their elite for hire cadre army. See Persian empire vs Roman empire (300 is a good movie though it butchers some history) Also Persian empire is what drove in part the Grecian nations to merge into the Roman empire.

  • Actually thats kinda a myth, mostly brought on by the good book it self. The christian origin; Catholicism Was actually adopted by the roman empire and used to eliminate the conflict between greek and roman pagan religions and by out-phasing those; unified the entire region under roman empire rule. They hunted down christ and his followers as told by the bible (and literally NO WHERE ELSE IN ALL OF HISTORY) due to the new testament and christ's version of god (christianity vs Catholicism) was essentially pagan idol worship at the time. Which ironically is why it is supposed to have caught on so well (replacing old roman and greek idolatry with idolization of christ). In actual historical account (historic literature from era's) christianity didn't actually start becoming wide spread until a few hundred years after christ's death.

  • Yea; history is quite interesting lol. But yea the myth that romans hunted down christianity is a bit irregular of one. Especially since the new testament was eventually written and published by the Vatican still under roman Catholic rule. Mostly though in western christianity; its not corrected due to; 1) it would contradict events from the bible itself to admit that roman's were not specifically targeting and hunting christians 2) it allows the whole "christianity is being persecuted" argument some actual validity.
