The Old Testament says what it used to be, the new testament says what you are supposed to do now. Any other questions? I'd be glad to answer

There is a lot of incest in the bible. Is that cool?

There wasn't many people in the day and religion slowed it, now it isn't,

Ok thank you. I do have another question though. If the Old Testament was how it used to be, then why is homosexuality still considered a sin. It says nowhere in the New Testament that homosexuality is a sin, yet many conservative Christians say "Well it says it in the bible, so it must be right." Even though it was only in the Old Testament.

It's in the New Testament, 1 Corinthians. The Bible also identifies a marriage as a union between a man and a woman, again in the New Testament.

I just want to say Thank you, You may not have the same belief but you at least ask question so that you have a better understanding of Christianity. Following it is your choice in the end but I appreciate you actually trying to get a better understanding our our view then just harassing our religion.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 is part of the New Testament and talks about what kind of sinners won't inherit the kingdom of God. Homosexuals are among that list. It's listed as a sin on the same level as lying, thieves, and drunks...etc. Shouldn't be singled out...but our culture has singled it out.

Thanks for clearing that up, but I still don't understand something. What makes the New Testament so much different than the Old Testament? I thought that the whole bible was supposed to be the Word of God, so why do people seem to act like the Old Testament didn't even exist. For instance, I had a children's bible when I was little (I was raised Catholic, but I forgot most of it), and they removed anything that was morally questionable, so it was literally Genesis->New Testament.

To make it brief. The New Testament is the fulfillment of the Old Testament. It's not that the old doesn't exist or isn't practical in some instances. It's that the New completes the Promise that God made to Adam and Eve in the garden. Because man sinned, all of humanity is cursed. God spends the whole Old Testament raising up the nation of Israel so that he might fulfill his promise to defeat sin with the sacrifice and death of Jesus. A lot of the laws and customs of the Old Testament...like sacrificing bulls and such....are now obsolete because the death and resurrection of Jesus fulfills the requirements of the old law. Belief and faith in him allows believers to live unto Christ and be made perfect and new in his eyes. Whereas before, all the laws, and sacrifice just covered up our sin. The New Testament is the good news that allows us to been seen as sons of God and be accepted into his Kingdom. And we aren't perfect...by any means..I guarantee I'm the biggest sinner I know. But we are being made into the perfect image of Christ one day at a time. Seriously man I could talk for ages about this. If you ever wanna game together if you got more questions I'm totally up for it.

But only male homosexuals? (Based on NIV translation)

Women get a free pass!!! Lol, no since the Bible was written in a time when men were consider superior and women didn't have much standing, much of the language is geared towards men. Other translations state "those who practice sexuality" which would include women. And thinking through it, I just don't think any god would just give women a free pass. I found this to be helpful as well. Greek translation is tough: http://www.gotquestions.org/arsenokoitai.html

Men or Man in the Bible is often used in reference to Mankind in general and not just the gender

Ah. Did some more digging and it seems a fairly disputed section vis a vis the translation. Oh well. Just found the first hit odd, but you make a good point.
