I'm @ 44CF's and need the "Tier 2, Court of Oryx, Bracus Horu'usk, Mengoor & Cra'adug"...does anyone know if it's true you can just wipe to cancel the event and get your rune back...allowing you to "farm" for the correct enemies?

Yep. And all you have to do is just not approach the portal and the event will cancel. Or you can pull up your ghost and abandon it
