I believe the Speaker, working for the traveler, will be the final boss. Then in Destiny 2 we must take out the traveler.
The traveler is a alien AI who enslaves planets by killing their hero's and rebirthing them as it's "Guardians". The Speaker is it's creator who is now also under its control. He brought it to earth to save his own species.....
