Here's the thing: The Bible is one of, if not the best selling books of all time. It is studied not just in a religious context, but also from a literary perspective. The stories are well known, and many of them follow the form of classical literature. It's possibly the single most used source of inspiration in storytelling. There are elements of it EVERYWHERE. You're reading too far into it. Those of you who don't like his idea as a whole, and think that the Bible and elements thereof need to stay out of your favorite things: You better stop liking things.
