His comment has nothing to do with nerfs at all. He's commenting on the fact that given a choice between year 1 or year 2 weapons most year 1 players would choose year 1 gear. Year 1 players would do this even though all year 1 gear has been rebalanced (ie. There is no discernable difference in power between year 1 and 2) for no other reason than nostalgia. Please allow me to say that I read your post and it's wonderfully written. Your arguments are logical and well founded. However let me ask you this why do you want your year one weapons back so badly? Well the answer is nostalgia. You said it your self you want access to those weapons for the memories and experiences they facilitated. I believe that is exactly what bungie wanted was for you to enjoy yourself and your gear. To build memories, to have amazing experiences (which it sounds like you did). Now I believe it is their intent to do that again. They want you to go forward into year 2 and forge new experiences with new weapons and gear (in fact deej has come right out and said as much). As the saying goes out with the old so to speak. Now I'm not saying it's a good reason but it's the one they've provided. There are also probably technical reasons as well. It seems to me that to keep old weapons in the game they would have to constantly be evaluating them against the new content (dlc) for the sake of balance. As the number of weapons in the game grows this task would become more and more complicated so to keep things simple they designed a whole bunch of new weapons that are balanced for the current content. Again maybe not a good reason I don't know I'm not a designer or a programmer. Let me ask you this? Your whole argument is based around bungie providing a good reason why the guns can't be brought into year 2 can you provide a good reason (aside from nostalgia) why they should be brought into year 2? Anyways take care.
