I've been a little spicy about MIDA Multi-Tool being left behind in Year 1. I've heard the explanation as to why, but it still doesn't make much sense to me. There are three new Scout Rifles, plus (what was it?) four new Hand Cannons and four new Pulse Rifles.
Guys, that makes little sense. You brought forward Thorn and Juju, while adding more of those weapon types, but left a Scout behind so you could introduce three? You still have more Hand Cannons and Pulse Rifles than Scouts.
But that's not why I'm upset. MIDA was my go-to exotic for just about everything. Not Gjallarhorn. Not Thorn. Not The Last Word. It was MIDA. And I didn't use it just for the speed boost (which was nice); I liked the stability and the Third Eye perk that it had. Those features got me through nearly every Crucible match I ever played. I've tried your Omolon Scout Rifles, your Pulse Rifles, even Hawkmoon. None of them compare to MIDA for me.
I tried Iron Banner today, since it's now available for the first time since The Taken King launched, and thanks to the way Light works, I can't use my MIDA to any good effect. I'm sorry, but I think you've lost a Guardian. This Titan won't be playing Iron Banner for a while, I'm afraid.
(I will say, however, that the Impact on the Conspiracy Theory is nice. It's my go-to shotgun for regular, non-Iron Banner Crucible matches. I almost don't need any other perks on that weapon.)
EDIT: I just wanted to pop by and say that I understand that Bungie has stated that they will eventually bring forward all Year 1 Exotic weapons. This post was mostly written after a frustrating defeat in the Iron Banner. I've tried several newer weapons such a Third Eye-capable Last Exremity (Omolon Scouts take up an awful lot of the screen, don't you think?), an Apple of Discord with Headseeker, and even the Hawkmoon. Maybe I was off my usual game - which is actually not that great anyway - or maybe I got paired with better players than usual, but I felt really frustrated with every other weapon I tried.
I've tried being flexible and adaptable, which has worked with a lot of the new weapons. I found a shotgun I like, as well as a sniper rifle. Boolean Gemini is really not that bad; I'm just too dependent on Third Eye, I think. But there's just something special about the MIDA that made me fall in love with it. (In fact, I remember trying for that thing over and over again in raids and Xur engrams, to no avail, and finally I returned from the Vault one day to find it waiting for me at Kadi's stall. I ended up getting three within the same week! Of course, this was only a short time before the release of the House of Wolves expansion, so I've only had it for a few months, but I'd trade my Gjallarhorn for my MIDA any day.)
EDIT 2: Heard the news! Took me a couple days to track down the post, but here I am! Super excited that MIDA is moving forward in the December update. Just disappointed that I have to wait that long! D:

Edited by LONE RONIN2012: 10/15/2015 4:17:38 AMDespite some players that couldn't use MIDA that complained. With 23,000+ PvE killls I can say MIDA was too good, in that it was really good but actually balanced, and would quickly wreck anything from close to medium longish range.
