No video, but earlier today I was running the raid with a good group of friends. Everything was cool until we got to The Daughters. We ran through it really smoothly despite the problem. Here was the problem: one of my friends decided to stream it. And he had about 70 something people watching it at the time. Now here's the big kicker, his voice sounds like a 12 year old amped on sugar, and everyone began making fun of him about it. Some people started telling him that he'd never beat the raid, that he's trash and he should go back to bed, and pretty much any bad insult you could imagine. This made a lot of us angry. Our fireteam leader (name withheld in case of moderator attacks) started encouraging him. He kept him in the zone, made sure he ignored those guys and that he was calm. Now, here's one thing to consider: he's autistic. So he isn't very good in these situations. And no one in the chat knew that and they just kept being overall (pardon my language) dicks. And whenever he got worked up, he got really emotional and overreacted about every little thing. (Not in the angry kind of way, but in the more fearing scheme of things). We made him turn off the stream, and just kept going. But for that time, he didn't break, and he did fine. He calmed down, and he didn't give up. We never beat oryx, but we plan to kick him in the rear tomorrow.
TL;DR
Our autistic friend was getting cyberbullied on stream, and we helped him through it.
Please don't leave any hateful comments. Thanks in advance.
why did i have to read this nonsense
-
What a sob story
-
Hope you guys get it done! Tell your friend he has my support! You guys are good people for encouraging him, and not following suit. Anyway, again, tell your friend he has my support, and everyone else's that is being supportive on this post!
-
Thinking mods are here to attack you says some things...
-
Ok...........
-
Don't stream if you can't take it. Or don't read the messages. Streaming means you subject yourself to that,as sad as it is. Internet makes a lot of people a bully
-
Here's an idea... how about he doesn't stream...
-
It's a shame people feel the need to be dicks. Mostly they do this because their own life is so unfulfilling, it makes them feel better...sadly. Good for your team to stick by him, good group of friends you have there :)
-
The world is full of dicks, don't let him open himself up to that type of abuse in the future
-
Good job, helping him through it. He needs to (or have friends) mod his channel and ban the pricks. People are nasty. No need to deal with them when just a few clicks gets rid of them. I'm against bullying but cyber bullying is different. There's absolutely no reason to deal with this for more than a second. Close the page, mute/block the assholes etc. lots of ways to deal with that. If you're getting cyber-bullied that's kind of on you. Obviously that's a general "you". No one should be allowing themselves to be cyber-bullied. If it's happening, you're allowing yourself to be bullied.
-
Just kick them from the stream. Or you know, stop streaming.
-
Welcome to the Internet
-
Some people just can't live with the fact that he is better then them, anyone that can play with a mental disability is a hero in my book i mean hell, some of us can't play well and we are fine
-
Trolls are trolls and bros are bros. Good job guys and to your buddy who got bullied I understand first hand how difficult it can be to stay positive and unshaken, but just remember that those people don't matter and to focus on the positivity in your life. Good luck and +10 Internet points
-
Was it bad that he was being bullied? Yes it really was, no one needs to act that way. However, this is not the right place to go for this situation. I'm sure the Twitch enforcement team would be a better place to report this.
-
Remember it's only cyber bullying if you treat it as such. Just like here there are ways on streams to block the ass hats. Ban certain people, turn the stream off if it gets bad. The like. I understand how it feels to be at the end of it. But sometimes we gotta take measures to deal with those who talk shit over the internet.

Edited by swarlson: 10/18/2015 5:37:37 PMWant the solution turn off the same stream. There is no such thing as cyber bullying
it auto corrected damn to same
If my kid had autism I'd give him advice about having hard skin, it's a hard world, you need hard skin
-
Well did you think streaming online was gonna get you all the goody good nice nice people in the world? Lmfao....
-
I feelz bad
-
Theres an option in the stream to not let chat messages be displayed. So he can stream all day having a fun time and not worry about hateful comments.
-
You'll get oryx down. If it gets too late, my team just leaves it for the next night. We make stupid mistakes and the get mad about it. Go in with a fresh head and you'll down him easy
-
Good on him for keeping a level head and you guys for having his back.
-
Dames of destiny this guy streamers should be prepared for this type of thing
-
Well, do your best to explain that those people are the most verbal in the gaming communities and if you stream it will happen.
-
Wow assholes
