Oh, he should avoid situations like this? Let's just let these guys be douchebags as a community? Not everything is avoidable.
The two of you can accept your weaknesses and avoid the things that scare you. I think it's great this kids friends helped him through. And even better that he's not avoiding life.

It's a video game. These people are hidden behind the shroud of anonymity. There is absolutely no winning with them. If a person lacks the coping skills to brush it off, then they are in a no win situation. I understand your point, but it's a little idealistic and naive, don't you think?
