Joshua considers going back, but decides against it, knowing it couldn't be any worse than what his ancestors battled. He gets up, stretching, and estimating the distance he has left to go. "God my legs hurt..."

  • The rumbling grew fiercer as he got close, and he thought he felt something crawling up his leg. Looking down, it was.... a spider? Joshua shook it off, the tiny arachnid fleeing back into the ground. It must have been from the webs earlier... As you move, the webs start to cover more and more of the roots, making the trip slippery and dangerous. Joshua skillfully stepped around the webs, but soon, it slowed him to a slow walk, as the number was too great. The path behind him beckoned, but he continued to move on, feeling more spiders crawl up his clothing.

"Spiders. It had to be spiders." He shakes them off and begins to use his sword to clear the webs faster, refusing to turn back.

He felt an odd presence about him, as if he were being... watched, so to say. It was rather scary, as spiders started coming up by the hundreds at first, then the thousands, covering almost everywhere he stepped foot. But now, none climbed his leg. They only fled.... fled from what? The spider webs were empty now, but the ground was eerily empty, devoid of arachnid life. The rumbling continued to grow... something big was coming. No, not just one; many.

  • The huge roots towered high now, many small trenches ranging from 5ft deep to 30ft deep scattered around. They were filled with cobwebs, and a lot larger holes... whereas the smaller spiders emerged from small holes, that only meant one thing... A shadow was cast upon Joshua as a bael jumped from a higher root, it's legs outstretched, fangs dripping with venom for the kill. Joshua only had a second to react.
I would've said huge spider otherwise... but you know the lingo
•
cool
He reacted fast, like he was always trained to. One minute he was in the path of the pounce, the next, his blade was buried in its back, while it was still in motion. "Haha! Take that you ugly poison-drooling freak!"

  • It shreaked, it's huge claws burning the trees roots with acid, biting into the bark as it died. Joshua was no longer safe. He was being hunted by a pack of baels, their clicking fangs and feet advancing toward him, hidden behind the ridges of the trench he had walked through.

  • Baels don't give up their hunt, Joshua seeing some dashing up the walls beside him, watching and waiting for an opening. The one to his left jumps, as well on the right, both screaming as their sharp talons dripped with some sort of poison; and injury from that wouldn't bode well.

  • He jabs his sword into the ground, thrusting himself into the air enough to dodge the two, and make them hit each other. Obviously, he pulled his sword back as he leaped and tried to create walls of ice to slow his pursuers down.

  • The two baels were caught in the walls, frozen solid, but the others easily jumped over, now 5 in pursuit. The screamed and hissed, 2 suddenly disappearing into the ground, the other three charging Joshua with legs raised, poised to attack.

  • Slicing the talons off the closest was easy, dodging the attacks of the second was a bit more challenging, but he managed to get beneath it, and drag the blade through its stomach. The third however, got the drop on him.

  • The first collapsed, unable to walk as well, dragging it's head across the ground as it screamed and tried to get away. The second was gutted, it's insides spilling all over the ground. The third was thrown off by the rambling of the first, both colliding with each other, as the third's attack hits the first, which quickly died. The two that disappeared earlier popped up, replacing the fallen baels. It was just the three of them, but Joshua could hear the screams of ones farther away still, yet, just one was getting closer, the others farther, so it seemed.

  • He stares them down for a few second s before making his move. One's legs are frozen to the ground before it can react, and the other was being climbed by Joshua. He was attempting to run across its back and put his sword through its brain.

  • The frozen one struggles to free itself, as Joshua stabs another in the brain, it quickly twitching and falling limp. He forgot about the third, as the blunt of it's leg knocked Joshua in the shoulder, off the fallen bael. It was sure now, though; only one more bael was approaching, apart from the ones Joshua was fighting.

  • He stares it in the eye, waiting for it to lunge, when it does, he leaps, and stabs it somewhat lightly in the back, but still enough to hurt like hell. He then moves the blade in different directions, steering the spider around and ramming it into walls. "Why are you hitting yourself?"

  • The spider screams, bashing it's head in on the walls, dying shortly. The frozen one had given up it's struggle, then started up even more fiercely than before. The lone bael that approached was not white, but red; an elder bael, even bigger than the others, fangs and legs dripping with poison, razor sharp. The struggling spider finally submitted, staying still in it's icy trap. The elder bael watched from a ridge, waiting for you to finish it's comrade; it made no move to stop you. Yet.

  • One swift swing removed the final Bael's head. Joshua then stares at the elder. "Hey! Want some buddy? I still got plenty to go around!" On the inside, however, he was tiring of the fight, for his fast movements took much of his stamina.

  • The Elder Bael screams, it's shriek making Joshua's ears ring, as it slowly crawls down to equal plain with Joshua, them seeming to have appeared at a small arena-shaped area. It started slowly circling around you, snarling, before running straight at you, fangs bared. It was attacking lower, so it's legs defended most of it's body, and it came at an incredible speed.

  • It takes the hit, the slash landing at his leg. But it's leg was more armoured than others, so it seemed to barely feel it; not ineffective, but only so much. It didn't scream nor make a sound, as it turned around, approaching slower, before sweeping it's long legs outward in a slash, flinging dangerous poison everywhere.

  • He knocks the fang loose, the bael howling in pain. It thrusts it's legs out still, though, but strikes right behind you... then you notice a nudge at your back, as it tries pushing you to it's mouth, the dangling fang spraying poison and blood on the ground.
