What was it worth before the expansion dropped? Whoopee you could run Skolas or Nightfall for a chance at more shit you already had?

 • Well, first off, it wouldn't just be for my benefit; it would make the entire breadth of Destiny's content worth experiencing for NEW players, as well. Right now, there are virtually no reasons to run VoG, CE, or PoE, for example. Bungie seems focused on forcing players to experience NEW content, yet allows the other 80% of the game's endgame content fall by the wayside. And, as for ME, there are still a good handful of items I don't have from Year 1 that I still want. If it was still worthwhile, I'd absolutely go back and keep playing all the Year 1 content. Again, content I already paid for, that is now 100% worthless.

 • Given that nightfalls and PoE now only drop TTK-tier loot, you're not missing out on those as loot sources for Y1 gear. So you can still play Y1 content and get your Y1 gear just fine. I agree with the invalidation of the previous endgame. It'd have made much more sense if they just removed XP levels and switched over to the new level entirely, or if they kept L20 cap and did the same. As the old Raids don't even give XP, or have quests associated with them, it's sort of pointless.

 • Has PoE always given current-level drops, or was that updated in a post-TTK patch? I could've sworn it still gave HoW-level drops last time I played it. Is it still the same gear, though? Still, that's only a small part of what should've stayed relevant, in my opinion. :P So much effort went into the raids, and it's a shame if new players won't ever have reason to experience them. :/

 •
Given that nightfalls and PoE now only drop TTK-tier loot
That PoE should be Trials, sorry. As PoE is still not locked behind TTK, it should give HoW-era gear.
Still, that's only a small part of what should've stayed relevant
I don't have an issue with the relevancy of content being moved, personally. I'd rather do something new than something I've already done a thousand times over, even if VoG is still a masterpiece.

 •

Given that nightfalls and PoE now only drop TTK-tier loot
That PoE should be Trials, sorry.
Okay, I thought I was going crazy. XD All the more reason why holding back gear is largely entirely arbitrary; all of my old ToO gear has the EXACT same stats as Tue new stuff, so there's no "balancing" issues as to why it's being left behind. :/ And, I know that YOU might not have any interest in running VoG again, but what about the new players? There's obviously a large amount of players that jumped into Destiny with the TTK bundle, which was market as the "complete Destiny experience." But, if 75% of said "complete experience" is entirely pointless, it only serves to weaken the game as a whole. If this trend continues, the game will only ever be as desirable as the most recent DLC, because that's all that newcomers would look at. If, however, old gear was continually brought forward, all the old content would be brought forward with it, and Destiny would become exponentially more desirable with each consecutive DLC, which seems like MUCH smarter game design. It's more than just respecting players' efforts, it's also about respecting the legacy of the game. My two cents. :P
