They totally trashed Joseph Staten's original work and then this whole "Iron Bar" group of team leads got together and butchered the crap out of it. Activision had nothing to do with that. THAT was the result of incompetent management. Bungie is like the Target of the Gaming Industry now. You've got bosses at the top who make stupid decisions at the cost of quality. Activision didn't help at all and they perpetuated an ongoing problem, but the Iron Bar was flawed and the Blacksmiths didn't have it the tools to properly reforge what had already been crafted.
