I totally agree with you on most points, except one thing: Destiny Year One on it's own was bad. I've had loads of fun in the VoG, Crota's End, yyesssssss, even PoE. Destiny Year 2 blew me away... I'm enjoying every second. I'm not sitting there thinking "well gosh darn, this is what it should have been", I'm just enjoying it... Maybe I'm too forgiving, but I'm having too much fun with this stuff to get bothered by would have/could have talk... I get what you're saying, but I've never expected that much from Destiny. I'm fine with DLC giving you new game-mechanics or the 'full experience', that you might expect a single-player game to have in the vanilla version. I'm aware that this is a slippery slope and sounds like fanboy behavior, but I honestly feel Destiny Year 1 was worth the money and Destiny Year 2 was worth the extra money.
Were the examples I named, Skyrim and Mass Effect, better games than Destiny? Yes, story-wise, environment-wise, they were... But gameplay-wise? Immersiveness-wise? The want to get back in the game? No, in that respect Destiny is the best game I've ever played... And that was so in year 1, and has only grown more in year 2..
