By time-gating, he means that we have already completed steps for certain exotics and then the quest is unlocked at a later date or that the quest/item is only available when Bungie makes it so. For example, the majority of the hardcore Destiny players (myself included) had all of the Dvalin parts for the Sleeper Simulant within the first couple of weeks (days, even...), and then the Sleeper Quest was time-gated. We didn't have access to it until Bungie said so. That, my friend, is not "new content every week or two". That is delayed content that we already worked for being made accessible a long time after we have already met the requirements. New content would be something like "Here's a brand new quest that isn't directly linked to shit you did two or three weeks ago". They simply time-gated us with No Time to Explain and Sleeper Simulant, and even Black Spindle, really. You can only get the Spindle during a Daily Mission, which is absolutely ridiculous. It's not as bad a Sleeper and No Time, but it's still pretty freaking bad. Time-gating exotics/content is not acceptable. Stop defending it. It's absurd.

  • So you'd rather just have everything single thing available on day one, blow through it all in a couple weeks and then complain about how there is nothing to do? And you call my opinion absurd??? Guess what? This is how Year 2 is going to work. No more paid DLC packs, with a bunch of new content provided every four months. Its going to be new quests or missions or strikes or raids provided every week or two, funded by micro-transactions. If you don't like that, I suggest putting the game aside now. Its not going to stop.

  • So these new exotic quests would be just fine if we hadn't already picked up the Dvalin relics or ghosts? OK then. Seems a pretty minor thing to quibble over.

  • These quests would have been fine if the were released all at once, yes. Also, if Bungie hadn't made it seem like Sleeper Simulant and No Time To Explain were huge secrets. That was the first mistake. Black Spindle was met with happiness. Why? Bungie just sprung it on us one day without us knowing anything about it. However, after the Spindle was discovered, we should have had permanent access to its quest. These time-gates are not fair to those of us who actually have lives.

  • I'll agree that the secret endings to the story missions should be available any time you pick the Heroic version of that mission and not just when its the Daily. As you say, not fair to people who can't play every day.
