The Traveler has an Evil twin, without question, our traveler is evil, and the one the Fallen seek to get back is the "good" one. Barrons Ambition confirms there are two travelers. Cloak of the Trinity Star And the Trinity Star Artifact also eludes to this as well.

Edited by dead mans: 10/22/2015 10:35:07 AMYou make alot of claims without backing them up bud. What new info do you have that says the traveler isnt evil? Im assuming its from the taken king dlc? You said theres a ton but you never mentioned any of it? Why? How do you correctly interpret the grimior matpat cited? Can you cite where it says the travlers ONLY goal is to bring about a golden age of tech for everyone it meets?
-
Thank god I'm not the only one who realized this. Like I love matpat, but this theory was out dated and presented in all the wrong ways. He also forgot to mention that the idea was scrapped after the lead writer left, as well as some other things.
-
Could it be the the enlightenment the traveller brings actually is changing races to be evil? Granted it could be with the best of intentions, however it still fails...maybe that's our destiny. For example time travel is something real in Destiny, what if the traveller has come to us in multiple timelines, in one such timeline the faction wars never ended do the fallen houses not reflect the factions of the tower? Another is The hive were not always the way they are now, eris was obviously changing as well as what we know form the book of sorrows and worm consumption. During the golden age mind was mixed with machine could we have made/become the vex?
-
What people don't realize is that the lore in Destiny is pointing at multiple timelines. It seems like this has happened over and over. In some of those time lines the Traveler is evil. Of course the Hive, Fallen etc think the Traveler is evil to them.

Finally someone else who understands

Psions arent enslaved. Theyre cabal with a symbiote that gives them mind powa. Symbiote makes their bodies weak but their minds strong
-
So, how much of these comments are trying to prove you wrong?
-
The traveler at the very least isn't objectively good. Reading about his abandonment of the fallen and then having us earthers slaughter them? That's like if the U.S. went to Papua New Guinea and took the locals under our wing, nurturing them, supporting them in every way. A rival country comes and the US just dips out, leaving them to rot. The Papua people are ripshit, a broken people they lash out at the new recipient of their former overseers glory. And the US equips and encourages the complete slaughter of its former wards? That isn't the only traveler abandonment, after the hive gain power, it ditches the race of that area as well. The traveler hops from world to world kiting genocide at every turn. It isn't objectively evil but it sure as hell ain't good.
-
What if the traveler created Darkness and is spreading it as he goes to each new world inadvertently? Didn't Batman technically create the Joker?
-
Yeah throughout matpat's theory I kept thinking, have even seen the new DLC lore.
-
I agree

Edited by Black Howling: 10/22/2015 1:44:32 PMOriginal Traveler and Speaker were very much "Evil". Now they're playing Dr. Frankenstein with what's left of what they can use of Staten's work. It seems they're going with making the Traveler "Good", but who knows? They may decide to make it the villain, still.
-
The traveler raises up civilizations and abandons them to the darkness. Traveler might not be 'evil' but I wouldn't say its 'good' either. I think it is a self-serving individual, much like the rest of us.
-
Two theories that I have seen. 1. The traveler wanted to leave and rasputin wounded it badly by launching a ship into it to force it to stay. 2. The traveler created the vex to help terraform the planets quicker.
-
I think it's funny, I mean I started thinking to myself that the traveler was actually evil so I told some of my friends my theory on why. They then say to me that I "watched an video". Turns out there's a lot of videos on the topic, and that my friends don't believe I though about it on my own... :(
-
I know that videos upset me even thought I love his videos and I tried to tell him in the comments even though I know it got lost
-
Edited by SpacialSnowflake: 10/22/2015 9:36:55 AMIt is sad reading these comments. So many ignorant and somewhat dull people. Others at least have sensible responses which is respectable and some are just sheep towards MatPat. At least some true loreseekers get what is going on and people who say good and evil are hard to define also have a point.

Edited by SXF Infinity: 10/22/2015 1:33:15 PMMaybe if matpat at addressed more ttk grimore
-
I believe his video... The traveler is Evil. People have opinions and if you don't agree with it don't make a post over it saying what you think... If people want to believe him let them. I'll be one of them because it makes sense.
-
He probably recorded it before ttk dropped to be honest
-
"From my perspective the Jedi are evil!" Such a great line.
then he proceeds to show how evil Jedi are by taking it out on padawan children!
-
Who gives a shit about destiny's story? Bungie certainly doesn't so neither should you.
-
Yeah he was so off in that video.
-
I think towards the end of the game we will have to kill the traveler in a gigantic raid. Just my personal speculation.
-
Sorry, but there's no evidence to pointing as to what the Traveler really wants.
