Bungie gets between 20% and 35% of cumulative operating income. Weird, so I guess the other 65%-80% gets thrown out into the streets. As it pertains to microtransactions (a type of operating income), player retention is strongly related to in-game sales revenue. There is every reason for Bungie to continue to motivate players to continue playing. Activision takes the majority of the operating income, so you know they're in the same boat. The investors/licensee's in this case (Activision) VERY much care about how many people log in every day because those numbers are related to the current operating income AND potential operating income.
