Apparently, the warmind crippled the Traveler as it tried to GTFO of our solar system. The warmind said "not uh sugga, youz gotz to staaaay and keep these babies SAFE!" That is why the traveler still resides on Earth. The Traveler is technically a hostage.

Yep pretty much. I actually find it pretty funny. At least it didn't end up being completly -blam!-ed by the darkness like it probably thought it would.
