No, that'd make for a terrible story. Wow. Some guy is a good guy. Nope. He's not. The end. There is little to build off of. No hope for the future, no nothing.
Just because an idea is fun to toy with, it does not really mean that the idea would make for a great story. In Harry Potter, someone could've used a TimeTurner to kill Voldemort as a child. Sure, it'd be amusing, intriguing, and entertaining to think about. In practice, though, it'd be terrible for the plot.

I guess you have never seen mission impossible? That's just about every one of there plots... Also Fast and Furious 6... and a ton of movies that have twists like that... It's really not that uncommon

No, I know. It's hugely common. But not when that character is the godly being it is that conveniently has insane power and lives at your doorstep. The way it's set up already would quite possibly ruin the progress that the Taken King made. It's easy to screw up, easy to say, "well, why continue playing if everything is guaranteed shit for the next 8 years?". For the record I've never seen any of the mission impossibles. I know, I know, shameful.

Hey, I can't shun you for not having seen Mission Impossible. Everyone has that Pop-culture thing that they never get into. That said, I think they could pull it off if they do it carefully. I personally am skeptic of the travler and the speaker... so yeah.
