Hive have the worms because after oryx decided to work for the darkness the god worms gave them all worms inside , if they do not conquer the worms will devour them

They only went to the dark to conquer the impending doom that the traveler was making for them a species that was harmless (at the time) as they only lived for 10 years at a time
