Yes there is, it wants to survive. It has been to several worlds, giving the world new tech and then once it realizes the world can't defeat the hive it leaves and let's the world die. This is what happened to the fallen. It also planned to leave us until Rasputin damaged it so it would stay. It may not be evil but it certainly isn't all good.
