Can't Push my Agenda, It's not a Gun
A masked man wielding "knife-like weapons" killed one teacher and wounded another as well as two boys at a school in western Sweden on Thursday before being shot by police. Police said the suspect, a man in his 20s, was being treated for injuries at a hospital. The motive for the attack was not known. "Young people have been attacked. It is terribly tragic," police spokesman Thomas Fuxborg told reporters. The incident occurred at the Kronan school in Trollhattan, an industrial town of about 50,000 inhabitants north of Gothenburg. Prime Minister Stefan Lofven was expected to arrive at Trollhattan later on Thursday. Photos by a local news agency showed several ambulances and police cars on the scene as emergency service staffers dealt with distraught adults and teenagers. A police cordon was marked out with white tape. Police said they had responded to an emergency call saying a masked man with a sword was on the premises and that a person had been attacked at a cafeteria. "Four persons have been taken to the hospital from the school," said Niklas Claesson, head of communications at NAL hospital in the town of Trollhattan. Claesson said the attacker had used "knife-like weapons". "The assailant is being treated for gunshot wounds. The other people treated at the hospital are young but not kids. Some of them have serious injuries and are being operated on. One person is deceased at the scene." While it may be nowhere near the 15-20 seen in recent mass shootings in America, it still proves what the real underlying problem is: people. Sure, guns can result in more fatalities. It's easier to kill at a distance with a gun. But that's a two way street. Guns can also take out an assailant quickly and from a distance, and take out multiple assailants if that's the case. As for a blade, it's even easier to obtain a blade or sharp object anywhere then it is to obtain a gun in the US. And the fact that this blade-wielding scum injured others alongside killing one shows he could very well kill more than just one, like many would like to think would happen in the event of a knife attack in gun-free zones. And if this man couldn't have a blade, if he was so set on killing, he could have grabbed a large wrench, a hammer, a pipe, anything. So, in my opinion, the underlying problem is people. We will never stop murder. We can strip away weapons but in the end people will kill people, and someone will always have weapons, and typically, in a weapon-free area, it's the wrong people or the people in power(which couldn't possibly go wrong). EDIT 1: And what's sad is that people will only use the deaths of those that benefit their agenda. People will only blame weapons when it benefits the agenda. They'll blame the person when they can't push their issue. That type of picking and choosing doesn't work.
