This crap again?

There are no directions in space.

Edited by Panther: 10/22/2015 5:42:34 PMWhen you enter any room and you're looking into said room, when do you ever consider the far side of said room the front? And why would that be any different for the Oryx room? Oryx is in the back of the room.

Give each platform a number and then call out the appropriate number. Problem solved.
-
oryx is front. we enter from the back!
-
Oryx is the focal point of that boss battle. Regardless how you chose to classify entering rooms, oryx is the objective. The two platforms closest to the focal point are the front, the ones furthest away are the back. Honestly regardless of what platforms are what, in the end it doesn't matter as long as you win.

The "front" of a room is subjective. It's based off of what the central visual focal point is. Using the same model below, but placing the door on the right or left side of the room the "front" is still where the teacher is because the teacher and chalkboard are where the class should be looking. Some rooms have no "front". These rooms are typically designed for interactions. OP's argument is since his fireteam enters, what he believes is, the front door then he is in the front of the room (i.e. Entering the front door to a house). However the door does not indicate the front of any room. It's only the front door because the main focus of a building or home is indeed the front. So how do we determine the front? The Throne room is interactive with it's subjects. Oryx moves about the room causing us to maintain our focus on him. There is no true front. Therefore, we must determine our space by where we are in our "greater space". We are on a ship. Are we facing the bow when we enter the room or is it aft? Is it starboard or port? It's a fun argument but for the sake of friendships it's probably best to just come up with what your fireteam decides it should be. There are more important things to argue about like, "why didn't you get that Ogre down fast enough." Or, "you left you plate too soon."

As I keep posting on these threads. On raids I lead it's Oryx and Doors. You spawn at the doors and oryx pops on the other side. Zero confusion
-
A good fireteam leader should settle that before it starts.
-
When you enter the room you enter the FRONT of the room and you FACE the back....
-
ummm I smell teen spirit? you're a newb. L1,L2,R1,R2
-
When I enter boss arenas I always use the entrance as the "front" and the far end of the room as the "back." But I've had to change my callouts to not confuse people since most see oryx as the front. Neither choice is wrong or right.
-
Oryx front...but how many people you raid with still get this -blam!-ed up. #dontgetoffthedamnplateuntilitellyoutoodumbass
-
Ps players should use the following L2 R2 L1 R1 Like the pad
-
Oryx is the focus in the room. Where he appears first is the front. In Golgorath's case, enemies that appear behind him spawn in the "back"
-
Majority rules boys, majority rules.
-
Why did this have to become an issue? Lol Just call out the plates either in numbers or by gamer tag and save everyone a useless headache
-
Oryx enters from "The front of the ship" We enter from the inside aka the "back"
-
Oryx is far. Entrance is close.
-
Oryx moves! So it has to be the doors! I'd accept 'Saturn front' though!
-
You can look at it both ways. You are on a linear progression throughout the raid, so as you enter the room and move forward, Oryx is at the front. Everything else is behind you as you move forward. Or you can look at it like, i entered through the door at the front and moved back towards Oryx, making him at the back of the room. I personally think Oryx is the front but hey, tomayto tomahto, potayto potahto.
-
I look at Oryx and imagine him as 12 o'clock and the doors as 6. So, Oryx is front and doors are back.
-
LOL. I didn't even know people called the doors "front." Oryx is front in my groups, I guess. But I think it's even better to call out sections of the room by the player assigned to that platform. So anything happening near "Foman's platform" is instantly clear to everyone else on the team.

I have always called out every callout since the beginning as the facing direction being our spawn.. So why change it now?
