As the title reads, I've run the Shield Brothers strike 82 while chasing those damn unique gauntlets and 82 times I've come up NOTHING. What's even more discouraging is that I've read on threads here and other sites that people have run it in excess of 125 times and come up with nothing as well. Whether or not you think they're stylish, I personally like the look of them and therefore want my Titan to sport them. :)
Now, before the masses decided to impart their "wisdom" know that one, this isn't a "screw you, Bungie!" post; I'm honestly just curious as to other peoples success rates, or lack thereof, when farming these items. Two, I KNOW, as you should know and/or learn now while reading, that these unique boss drops ARE NOT tied to the Legendary loot table of Strikes; they're on their own drop percentage so please don't say, "Do strikes for the buff to increase your chances!" because that is false. You should also know, as I recently found out, that you don't have to kill Big Red or Big Blue first/second. Again, I know it's all RNG but still.
Anyhow, rant and rant alike, anyone else out there farming these gauntlets and coming up short? Flayer capes? Darkblade Helm? How many times did it take you to get yours and/or how many times have you run a certain Strike?
*UPDATE #1*
115 times and still nothing. Tried running it on my hunter for a change of pace, though. It's at least a little more fun now.
Do people even READ the post before commenting?
Bungie really needs to add a penalty for bailing on a Strike. I lost count of how many times people flaked after getting the fragment.
-
gotten them 2 times and broke them down into marks...they are shit.
-
See that's your problem, you desire it too badly. If you were casual about it, you would have gotten it. I wanted a flayer cloak but I wasn't about to sit and farm endlessly for one. Got one the other day by pure luck!
-
Sometimes I feel like RNGesus knows when you've been farming something for WAYYY too long, and use purposely doesn't give you that thing, because it wants you to learn a lesson. To go outside and breathe some fresh air once and awhile.
-
Never seen them drop
-
125 CEs later...no Crux. We all have good and bad luck streaks with certain items!
-
I have omnigul bond, grasp of malok, mau'auls maulers, devouring maw, treads upon stars, all 3 flayer mantles, and no DARKBLADE helm. Unlucky is just unlucky.
-
Still waiting for a Cloak...even did 10 times nightfall... Higher dropprate my ass
-
soloed NF on my hunter yesterday and got void flayer mantle on first try, lol.
-
same for me but with the darkblade helm
-
91 sabers later..... No maw
-
Got in on my 3rd strike!
-
Did the nightfall 3 times and got the solar cape.
-
Ive done saber strike 120 times. Still no warlock helmet. I feel your pain
-
Dismantled it every time..
-
All that for gauntlets? After 5 tries max i would be on here cursing bungie out. No filters either.
-
It's as if they were ... Random Seriously though, it'll come randomly, just play strikes
-
I got them twice in a row just playing heroics. Don't try to get them just play as normal and they'll pop up in time. Not saying how much time mind :P
-
I've gotten every strike specific item multiple times, except the Darkblade helmet, and that's the only one I want lol
-
I got grasp of malok on my first legacy run..I didn't even know that omnigul had a drop lol. Lucky me. I find it odd though I decrypted a legendary and I got the theosyion vibrissae(warlock echo chamber) gauntlets. I swear that it wasn't a drop.
-
Sucks to suck
-
I know every thing Eris says or will say during the Alak-hul strike
-
I got 2 Darkblade helms, 2 devouring maws, and a mark of the undying without ever farming. I didn't realize the drop rates were so low
-
I don't know why ppl get bent out of shape on this stuff. The gauntlets look cool but the perks and light are not anything special. Dont let it ruin your experience- one you have them you won't even use them. Trust me that's why you never see ppl wearing these. They are purely aesthetic.
-
The life of being a statistical outlier, here you are the bottom 1 percent of the destiny population that has yet to get these gauntlets where on average most players probably recieved them within 10 attempts or so. It's not like they have a special perk or anything, just be glad you can farm them if need be. It took me almost 40 hard mode vaults before I got my fate bringer. Unfortunately that's just how statistics work and you should try to remember bungie can't cater to an entire population over one unfortunate anomaly.
-
woah.. I've got like 2 of them in 20 Heroic Shield Brothers strikes..

Edited by rmagnums: 10/23/2015 6:52:40 AMI just did the Omnigul strike for a couple hours and watched both fire team members get a grasp of Malok. We were going on 5 hours.. Edit: oh yeah, i never got one to drop.
