As the title reads, I've run the Shield Brothers strike 82 while chasing those damn unique gauntlets and 82 times I've come up NOTHING. What's even more discouraging is that I've read on threads here and other sites that people have run it in excess of 125 times and come up with nothing as well. Whether or not you think they're stylish, I personally like the look of them and therefore want my Titan to sport them. :)
Now, before the masses decided to impart their "wisdom" know that one, this isn't a "screw you, Bungie!" post; I'm honestly just curious as to other peoples success rates, or lack thereof, when farming these items. Two, I KNOW, as you should know and/or learn now while reading, that these unique boss drops ARE NOT tied to the Legendary loot table of Strikes; they're on their own drop percentage so please don't say, "Do strikes for the buff to increase your chances!" because that is false. You should also know, as I recently found out, that you don't have to kill Big Red or Big Blue first/second. Again, I know it's all RNG but still.
Anyhow, rant and rant alike, anyone else out there farming these gauntlets and coming up short? Flayer capes? Darkblade Helm? How many times did it take you to get yours and/or how many times have you run a certain Strike?
*UPDATE #1*
115 times and still nothing. Tried running it on my hunter for a change of pace, though. It's at least a little more fun now.
Do people even READ the post before commenting?
Bungie really needs to add a penalty for bailing on a Strike. I lost count of how many times people flaked after getting the fragment.
-
RKO outta nowhereee
-
You have to kill randy orton after the blue guy for them to drop, idk if you knew that
-
I got it on my second run. Deleted them in stupidity. Whoops
-
Seems you need to run with diff characters to get what you want. As a warlock I have gotten two flayer cloaks and the Titan gauntlets. Nothing specific to the warlock has dropped while playing as a warlock. Not wanting to do it but might be time to break out the hunter if I ever want to get that warlock helm from saber strike.
-
I still have yet to get the Taniks' coak or a flayer mantle. Got the darkblade helm while playing on my hunter though. This is ridiculous
-
found it 3 times so far, I've done the strike maybe 30 times total, as it rotates through the playlist. I've also found the darkblade helm, and mark of the undying mind a few times each while running the playlist. Probably because I main a warlock. I've selected and run the saber strike a bunch of times and can't find devouring maw.
-
Had them drop three times and haven't used my Titan since around May. If that helps you relax.
-
I got them pretty easily but the warlock helm from the saber strike is the one I want that eludes me. Overall though, I got does not bow (bad perks), imago loop (good perks), and treads upon stars (good perks) so I can't complain.
-
Oh my god they look so awful, I can't fathom why people want this other than collection.
-
Wow lol. I think like the second/third time I ran that strike they dropped at 294. but dismantled because I don't play on my Titan
-
Same boat here man. Too many runs didn't get it. Too many saber runs no devouring maw but all other strike exclusives that I don't use have dropped. Excluding barons ambition I love that thing. Pls maulers pls devouring.
-
Got it on my second run by accident. :/

Edited by Brendinos: 10/23/2015 5:46:30 PMI know exactly where you're coming from and because I have all 3 different types of character I wanted to collect all specific strike armour and I did. The feeling is great my titan looks like a beast with the darkblade helm and the mau'aul gauntlets and I'm one of those people who got extremely lucky for both drops it took me about 50 strikes for the darkblade Helm and 50 strikes for the gauntlets. My warlock looks awesome with electricity flowing threw its face, again was lucky since I don't even like doing the SABER strike about 25 of them and I got it. Last but not least my Hunter, he looks amazing with the solar flayer mantle and because I'm a collector I wanted the other two the void and arc mantle. And let me tell you the grind was real I started to try and get void and let me tell you it took about 150 dust palace strikes, some of them heroic and this weeks nightfall (and nightfall does have increased chance for strikes specific loot) before the damn thing drop, the feeling was amazing and lucky enough I help my friend get the arc mantle and found an arc mantle in my post master. Soo i understand every bit of frustration you have. It feels like the thing you want most takes the longest. I got my taniks cloak at 75 strikes. Anyways all I have to say is keep at it don't stop you WILL get it eventually. And if you still don't get your gauntlets by the time the brother strikes becomes a nightfall then grind the nightfall it has in insane increased chance for specific strike loot to drop. Hope this helps Have a nice day : )
-
Have done taniks for cloak 75+ times. Still don't have it. Did psion flayers once and got the solar cloak
-
I is a TadPaul
-
run it on a hunter or warlock, I've always gotten the class items on the wrong class.
-
Edited by WorkadayLemur72: 10/23/2015 5:33:20 PMI just gave up on them...and the taniks cloak...and the devouring maw...and the darkblade helm...and pulse rifle fron omnigul...and the red and black legendary hawkmoon(actually i have no idea where that one drops lol). RNG in this game decided that the only strike specific drop that i need is thread upon stars and imago loop.....fml
-
I've gotten two of the flayer capes, but I would like that dark blade helmet. Only run it a few times though. Don't have the dedication to farm for a random drop.
-
My Warlock got the Arc Psion Flayer cape. I don't know how many tries it took, but I'm certain that I haven't completed that specific strike more than 10 times since the launch of TTK.
-
I got mine on my first try
-
I got the dark blade helm while doing strike playlist didn't even know strikes had unique legendary gear that dropped xD
-
I got the maulers on my first and only run as part of the quest lines. It's all luck.
-
Got mine on the first time I did it while playing on my hunter. Same thing with the darkblade helmet.
-
I got mine on my 4th or 5th run... But I've never, NEVER, seen the Darkblade helm drop and I've done it tons of times!
-
82, you must be a pro at that strike, how many Chaperone's do you have
-
I'm sorry that it's "taken" (lulz) you so long but that's what I love about those items. You actually have to grind for them. Takes me back to my days as Brick or Maya in the Borderlands series.
