True, but once you learn the spawn location of every enemies it speeds up. The game matches you with similar light level guardians, some of these guardians know every spawn location too. With good randoms the level 20 strike is 8 min tops from start to finish. Edit: at 8 min each that's 41.2hours of solid shadow thief. It did take me three weeks.
