On the warpriest the totem goes by order not by which side the totem is, all 1st will give him goblin ability and second will be the next and so on.

We did middle first and got the hob ability and wiped, did left and same thing

The ability is determined by which glyph you go behind. Middle is hobgoblin ability, right is captain ability I'm not sure about left. Haven't used that one.
