I think Trending is based on the frequency of views a post gets. How many people are consistently viewing it on a regular basis.

Which explains the pattern seen by the conspiracy theorists among the anti-bungie crowd (posts disappearing from the Trending page). They keep complaining that they're being censored by the evil bungie, when really they're just unpopular. I'm pretty sure that posts by diehard fans get disliked and reported by the haters too, but it's harder for them to imagine they're being persecuted by bungie.

I mean posts were disappearing in like an hour from the listing, but now they actually stay up instead of just going poof. Either that or people were getting censored by someone actually going in and manually messing with threads and whoever was doing it got stopped eventually.

I think the former. But then, I ignore "trending". The word itself tells me "zero value".
