Pushing Templar off=Cheese
Pushing Atheon off=Cheese
Having 1 man cross bridge=Cheese
Preventing Crota from standing up=Cheat
Using only 1 orb at golgoroth=Strategy
Not killing ogres at a particular time=Strategy
People are soo quick to throw out the word "cheese".......
We didn't end up using this strategy when we defeated oryx, always had a guy die on the way up.
We found an easier way where we had a titan floating with a blessing bubble in the middle between platforms with mallace.
Whoever didn't have to jump on pillar that cycle would join him in the middle to pop in and out of bubble melting ogres as they spawned.
Doing this along with some shots from the people on the pillars took down the ogres quick.
This gives plenty of time for they guys to turn and snipe their knights.
Runner should be saying that he has the relic by that point,
Everyone heads to middle, takes out vessel and shoots oryx.
Stagger, detonate bombs return to middle, shoot at his chest.
Rinse and repeat.
When you get teleported, if you can pop a blessing bubble it helps with the shade swinging.
Also an optional tip...having 1 guy run up to start the fight while the team stays back between platforms. Don't shoot the thtalls, you can let them come to you and bunch up. Hit them with a tether if you have a hunter. Once tethered, kill them all creating plenty of extra orbs for when needed.
Hope this was helpful.

Wow 1000+ replies, for the most part, a lot of really good points have been pointed out..

I totally agree, this is not a cheese, just a brilliant strategy.
-
they were all wanking over this raid at Bungie HQ thinking it was uncheesable atleast the casuals are happy about this cheese
-
It's not a cheese. It is the Carry Strat. It is rng - based but also significantly reduces personal responsibility so derps can get a kill even while they are dead. The Pro Strat (normal strat) is much easier as you stated and will only become easier as light level increases. Pro Strat is not difficult you just need to be good. https://youtu.be/d7Gfjxbl-kA And that was with titan with no ToM, 3 people who had never killed Oryx, total pug, weapons instead of blessings. 2nd attempt kill. I did almost die to swords but that's because I am a bad. Personal responsibility 》rng.
-
Agree, sounds like a strategy, not cheese
-
We stayed on the ground and used bubbles. I think everyone saw that two man group and wants to emulate that strategy. To each his own but the team I ran with was sound in execution and in the end it was actually a smooth run.
-
Not true you are doing something to bypass a new mechanic added specifically for hard raid. Not having to kill the Knights makes it a bit easy no?
-
There is this guy fighting his way on the comments so hard, saying its "cheating" its chesse, but I haven't completed the raid so I have no idea how it's done
-
I beat the raid legit and didn't use this ogre cheese
-
Don't worry about how others play the only thing that annoys people is the fact that people cheese everything and then says the game is no fun. How about run around and fight and hold positions and keep moving.
-
Bump thanks for sharing actual knowledge with these scrub kids
-
Play how you want and don't worry about if it's a cheese or not. Does it really matter?
-
Cheesing a fight is where you cause a glitch that makes parts of the fight not work as intended and give the players an advantage. Standing in a different spot and killing enemies at your leisure is not a cheese its good tactics
-
Yeah, I would agree it's a strategy... And I already beat Oryx twice, the accepted way.
-
It's pretty dam easy man but here's the thing - The hardest part is the orb people have to be able to judge if they can detonate and get back.. Cause we all know if ANYONE dies it's fuked.. Just make sure you have 2 Titans up top with blessings. Add the_WIZARD_kid on PS4
-
If you used the Internet to find calcified fragments then stop using touch of malice. This is not how bungie intended you to get it. You are avoiding the mechanic of finding it yourself. If bungie wanted you to use the Internet then there would be a YouTube console in the tower. (see how stupid this sounds)

Edited by The 4th Survivor: 10/26/2015 2:50:57 PMThe only cheese so far was pulling the Lan-cable on Crota and some class-based exploits. Everything else is and was not. The developer gives you tools in an environment with set rules. How you use these tools is up to you. Even Templar and Atheon pushing off was just a combination of a tool(AOE Grenades) and a set rule(enemies evading AOE). This game needs more variety and if I am bypassing a mob with invisibility in the nightfall, instead of gunning them down, it is a stealthy playstyle using my tools. There are only three ways of cheating/cheesing: -glitching outside a set environment -manipulation of the connection -altering the game via xploits/gamecode to your advantage
-
Whats this all about? I haven't been on much the last few days and haven't entered hard raid yet
-
if you're proper level for the raid (311+) it's easier to do the normal strategy for oryx imo. if you are lower or most of your team is lower i'd say this new strategy might work better for people who are struggling with the normal one. i prefer the normal strategy for hardmode it works really well for my team
-
Someone from bungie commented on a thread saying it was an awesome strategy. And they're right, because it's a strategy. If anyone wants to go all mlg pro and do it the "right" way to keep their soul pure, have at it
-
Not a cheese it's how it's suppose to be done.. Can't believe people wasn't doing this before.. Lol the explosion does all the damage to him actually not ur guns. The guns is there jus to flinch him to give u time to kill the ogres for u to detonate it lol
-
I dont know why anyone concerns themselves with how other people choose to play anyway
-
The normal way is easy enough the Knights aren't even close to a problem you know? It just takes time getting used to this added step, but once you do it is easy enough
-
I honestly can't see why people keep saying this is a cheese. We beat him with the defender in the middle strategy but we did attempt the no knights strat several times. Definitely not a cheese. Personally think the defender strat is easier anyway. So is that a "cheese" as well?

Thank you

Good post

Thank you for your logic. i used this in a somewhat modded way and it was still hard. players died many times. thing didnt just work all "easy" as people think.
